Our Story
We are volunteers at the Rowan County Animal Shelter in Salisbury, North Carolina. We take pictures, share information, and answer questions about the dogs at this shelter. Shelter bashing on this page will NOT BE TOLERATED. Anyone bashing the shelter will be banned and have their comments deleted with no warning given.
If you are interested in a dog (or cat) at RCAS there are several things you must do. If the dog is on Stray Hold they have a waiting list application form you must fill out. Their post on adoption is pinned at the top of the newsfeed on this page. If a dog or cat is owner surrender it is immediately available. The first person to arrive for that animal can adopt. The shelter does not hold animals for people. When you arrive to the shelter you will need your driver’s license and $80. The animal will have it’s shots, a micro-chip and will either be spayed/neutered or you received a $70 voucher towards spay/neuter at a participating vet. You are encouraged to take your new family member directly to your vet for a health check and possible boosters. Open intake shelters take in all animals no matter their condition.
Rescues and adopters both have the same opportunities to adopt from this shelter. Both must fill out apps on stray hold animals.
Lastly for dogs PLEASE use the TWO WEEK SHUTDOWN method to help your dog acclimate to your home and family. I will create a note with that information.
