Bounds Horse Haven Sanctuary

Bounds Horse Haven Sanctuary We take in starved, & severly abused horses. We take the horses everyone else has pretty much given up on, and work them them to get them past their issues.

Then they have a forever home with us. We let them live as close to natural as possible, within a herd. They seem to thrive that way. We beleive a herd of horses can fix many problems, that is far beyond the realm of humans.

Absolutely true. I wish more people would realize that fact, and treat horses accordingly. Not throw them away when they are old, or have health issues. They should be respected, and given a great loving retirement.

Guess what day it is? In 2004, Congress designated December 13th as National Day of the Horse, and has been celebrated each year since. The day was established to encourage U.S. citizens to be mindful of the contribution of horses to the economy, history, and character of the United States.

Pixie & Polly, our two little mini donkey, girls. These two have chronic
foot Issues. Polly (the white one) had been attacked in her pasture by some kind of animal? She came here in pretty bad shape. Had to have feet trimmed, and all four of her legs had been chewed up, and swarmed by flies. Pixie was skinny & scared to death of humans, due to her former abuse. Both are thriving here at the Sanctuary. We do appreciate all donations. Please consider donating to help animals like Pixie & Polly, live out there lives here at the Sanctuary. Two beautiful souls, for sure. https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=9KFS6VVUF566S

We sadly announce the passing of one of our horses. His name was Alichi. He was 28 years old. He suffered several years of tourture, and abuse, before coming to us. Alichi had really had his fill of humans! Didn't want much to do with anyone. We gave him his freedom to be who "he" was, and only ask him to cooperate with us, for his health care. He learned quickly what a kind hand was, and seemed to enjoy getting his heavy, hot mane trimmed for the summer months. Alichi ( AL-A-KI) was the name given him, meaning "strong". The day he came to us, he would no longer feel week, or overpowered, by anyone! Alichi, was a beautiful Black Mustang. He regained is pride, and got to run free, with a herd of horses, that he dearly loved, for the last 6 years of his life. (Just like he did in the wild.) Alichi's last day with us, he let us wash him, love on him, we truly enjoyed being in his presents. That night he peacefully lay down in a grassy spot, and crossed over.

RIP our sweet, sweet boy! We will keep you forever in our hearts. (Pic taken 2 days, before he passed away.) We are blessed to have known that special horse named... Alichi.

We thank our donors, for helping us give horses like Alichi, a permanant, forever home, to live out their lives. We couldn't do this work without you all. God Bless all of you!!

Sadie's journey....She should heal and be fine now!
As a few of you may remember, one of the horses named Sadie, had a bad kick to the head, and lost her sight, in one eye. She then had to go through her 1st surgery to remove her eyelashes, to keep them from rubbing her cornea. We were hoping the lashes wouldn't grow back. But unfornately they did! Dennis, & I both thought she had developed an ulcer from her lashes rubbing again. We called in our vet, and to our surprise, and shock, it wasn't an ulcer, it was a tumor, and was cancerious. Our Vet, removed Sadie's third eyelid, and was certain he got all the cancer with it. Then sewing her eye shut. That was her 2nd surgery, on May 3rd, this past month.

A few short weeks later, Sadie's eye had swollen up twice the size it should be! Back to the vets office to grab antibiotic shots. Thank God Bev Barber Reger, was here to help out with that! (She, and her husband are a few of our angels on earth for the horses, in every way!) Our Vet, Doc Berger, deceided to come on out to check Sadie again, and ended up doing a 3rd surgery on her! He had to remove her eyeball this time!

If any of you want to do something kind for a horse, please help with her vet bills. We already have it paid down to $251.46. From over $500.00 (for this surgery)You can call straight to the vets office, with credit, or debit card, at (573)-364-7100, and just tell them you would like to pay some for Bounds Horse Haven, "Sadie's bill". Then you know 100% of your donation is going to this horse. Please leave your name, & number, so we can mail you out a "Thank you" & tax receipt. If you can't help with the bill, then we ask for your prayers for this sweet horse. Thank you, and God Bless.

We would like to say "Thank you, & many blessings" to Bev Barber Reger ! We are SO blessed to know her. This special lady, traveled from Florida, to Missouri.. to help us out with our daily chores! She jumped right in on everything! From scooping p**p, helping with the girls scouts, hoof trimming, helping with sedated equine, to feedings, filling troughs, grooming, even running to the next town over, with me to pick up meds for one of the horses, from our vets office. This special lady helped do it ALL! Ran the tractor, supplied, and handed out treats. What a gal she is! We sure appreciate her help, and her company.

Bev, we miss you, and want you to know how much we enjoyed having you here! This wonderful lady, truly got to know the horses, and shared her love with them, also with us!

A Big "Thank You", to her husband, Roger.... for supporting her decission to help us out for 3 weeks. We know it wasn't easy for you to give her up, for that length of time.
