Vinton hosts another spectacular Fourth of July Celebration!!!
The Town of Vinton spent the entire day Friday celebrating the Fourth of July. Events began at 8 a.m. with the Four on the 4th Race and the Kids' Run benefitting the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southwest Virginia. Approximately 500 runners participated in the races which began and ended at the Vinton War Memorial, sponsored by Fleet Feet, the BGCSWV, and the Vinton Moose Lodge #1121.
Friday night, thousands turned out for the Fourth of July celebration on the grounds of the War Memorial. The evening concluded with spectacular fireworks presented once again by Grucci.
The party began at 6 p.m. with a welcome from Vinton Mayor Brad Grose, comments from Director of Cultural Placemaking and Events Mandy Adkins, and the National Anthem sung by the fabulous Crystal Williams.
DJ Flex provided the music throughout the rest of the evening. Kids of many ages enjoyed the foam cannon, just passing footballs and rolling down the hill on the front lawn of the War Memorial, and the many food vendors on site.
There was free ice cream served by the youth at Thrasher Memorial UMC just across the street. The town distributed glow-sticks, lighted bracelets, patriotic headbands, and more, to make the occasion even more festive. Downtown Vinton celebrated with a block party on Pollard Street which included several of Vinton's finest restaurants.
Thanks to the Town of Vinton staff, Vinton Public Works, the Vinton Police, Fleet Feet, the Vinton Moose Lodge, the Boys and Girls Clubs, and everyone who showed up to make this another incredible Fourth of July in the Town of Vinton.
