It’s a myth that harnesses cause pulling. It’s also a myth that you need a slip lead, e-collar, or prong collar to teach loose leash walking.
A dog that pulls on the lead is not being stubborn or dominant. They are being a dog and doing what works. It’s highly likely that at some point in their lives they learned that pulling could get them what they wanted. Whether it was to that really exciting smell, or to that dog or person they wanted to greet. Maybe it gets them out the door quicker, or to a tasty snack.
Instead of focusing on punishing the behaviors that you don’t want, focus instead on setting your dog up for success, and reinforcing the behaviors you’d like to see more of.

1️⃣ Sniffing Time: let them explore with their nose— it’s like reading the daily news for dogs! (Try a sniffari!)

Well… the results are in, and not quite what I was hoping for.
To quote my Dr “it’s a pretty severe meniscal tear.”
I’ll be seeing an orthopedic surgeon on the 22nd and should have a more clear idea on whether or not surgery will be required.
Whatever the next steps may be, it does appear that I’ll be out of work for another two to three months.
In effort to not suck my savings account entirely dry, and since I have the time now, I’m gonna start focusing some energy back into my other business, making BioThane leashes, longlines, and collars . I don’t have a website. That’s been on the todo list a couple years now 😆🤪, but you can dm me over there with questions or if you’d like to place an order!
Fun fact, and something I’m very proud of is that I use a portion of every sale to have one tree planted here in Oregon, and to make a donation to animals in need.

I took off the month of July to focus on my mental health and self care. I had several camping trips, rockhounding trips, and an annual backpacking trip planned!
Unfortunately on the 6th I somehow twisted my knee just right and wound up tearing my meniscus pretty badly😫.
I’m experiencing many different feelings around this. I’m feeling blessed that I was able to take an entire month off for myself in the first place. I’m grateful that I have the time to now rest and work on healing from my injury.
I’m also feeling incredibly sad, and frustrated that all of the amazing things I had planned will now have to be put off. I’m feeling a little scared and anxious on whether or not I’ll be able return to work come august, and if not how I’ll navigate the financial aspect (which I will, it’s just figuring out how. I always persevere).
I’m feeling very antsy as well. As someone who generally walks/hikes a minimum of 35-40 miles per week, I’m really struggling with just sitting around the house resting, and keeping my leg elevated.
If you guys have any recommendations on fun ways to pass the time I’ll love to hear them!
Been really considering buying the lapidary saw I’ve wanted for a while so I have something to do while I’m stuck at home, but I’m struggling to justify the $850 cost when I’m unsure when I’ll be able to get back to work. Maybe just pay then pray? 🤷🏻‍♂️🤣

Is summer finally here?!
I hope everyone is able to get out and take full advantage of this amazing weather!
Dude wants to remind you all to be sure to take extra care and precautions when leaving the house with your pets in this hot weather!
It only takes about 10-15 for the inside of the car to reach or exceed 100° on a 75° day! 🥵
If you HAVE to bring your dog somewhere with you, do your best to find some shade to park in with the windows cracked, or even better, leave the car running with the Ac on. A best practice I picked up when I started working with is to have a premade sign or something to put up in the window to let others know that your dog has access to water, and that the ac is on. I like to leave my number as well, just in case someone needs to contact me.
My sign is written from the dogs perspective. “Don’t worry about us! We’ve got water, ac, and are listening to our favorite dogcast! Here’s dads number if you still need to contact him!”
Same thing goes for checking the ground surface before asking your dog to walk on it. 🦮🐾
On that same 75° day the pavement can quickly and easily reach or exceed temps of 120°! 😱
I like to place the back of my hand on the surface for about 15-20 seconds to get an idea of if it might be too hot for my pups.
I do a lot of barefoot hiking and exploring during the summer, so another good gauge is that if it’s too hot or uncomfortable for my feet then it’s most likely to hot for my pups!
