Bruce's story is not unique and uncommon in our community. There are hundreds of dogs that aren't receiving basic medical care, proper identification like a microchip and are treated as disposable.

Unfortunately, there are MORE pets than rescues and shelters have room for. Only the "easy to adopt/no behavioral or medical issues" have a chance. The ones that are turned away often get dumped and then I have to go get them and advocate for them. Oregon Humane Society even turns away puppies and kittens and dosen't offer high volume low cost spay/neuter or wellness clinics for our community. Unfortunately, that means euthanasia is more common than you'd like to think. We can't hold challenging dogs and ignore the hundreds more behind them. This is an issues all over and we are right on the tails of Texas and California.

I am so grateful to partner with PAL - Prevent a Litter - Oregon so that the ones I can help will get spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Thanks to PAL and Four Corners Animal Hospital Bruce was neutered, vaccinated and microchipped yesterday!
Finding homes is very difficult and its hard to trust strangers to care for them for the rest of their lives. Thats why I have a signed contract and keep in touch with the ones I help.

Our local shelter Marion County Dog Services does not turn away strays which means they are constantly over capacity! You can help by keeping your pets safe and identifiable. There's a huge need for volunteers and fosters, the employees do the best they can but its a constant uphill battle. Burnout is real and our community needs to step up.

Please donate to PAL so we can continue preventing unwanted litters, irresponsible breeding and encourage responsible ownership.

Yesterday was Quinn's end of stray hold and today she got spayed at Four Corners Animal Hospital as well as received her first round of vaccines, bloodwork and microchipped!

Quinn was absolutely a group effort rescue and is now in the loving hands of Harmony New Beginnings Animal Rescue - Medical and Nutritional Rehab Center until she finds the perfect, forever home.

We know every rescue is overwhelmed so thanks to PAL - Prevent a Litter - Oregon that will be less of an expense for the rescue.

Besides medical care there will definitely be food, cleaning and extra costs along her journey so any help is appreciated. Harmony New Beginnings and PAL are both 501c3 non-profits and can give you a tax receipt.

Edit to clarify I am NOT a rescue! It's just me trying to help contain pets safely. I am not a 501c3, I work part time AND run my business. I do the rescuing and try to network with actual rescues for placement without any funding.

I am getting tagged more often, almost daily, about lost/dumped/abandoned dogs in Marion, Polk and Yamhill County plus further counties like Tillamook, Lincoln and Washington.

I often hear "omg you do my dream job" or "wow that's so cool I love it" and similar statements. I tend to turn off my filter and say "I wish I didn't have to do what I do" and then educate them on the reality of the crisis we are in HERE in our community!

Everyone wants to feel good about "doing something" but only if that means sharing a post or tagging the few of us that will step up and help. The moment we ask if YOU can help then suddenly you shift gears and have a million reasons why you can't. For example, I trap a stray but that County dosen't have a shelter or more than likely is full you start to get emotional and try to make me feel bad for taking it to the shelter or not keeping it myself. If I can make something work temporarily why can't you? Everyone has a bathroom, laundry room or spme way to hold overnight but still can't fathom doing so. Even when I offer to provide a crate and share dog food. Or offer to buy a bag of dog food or even $5 to help with gas or other costs associated with rescuing a pet.

I am tired of the excuses; life does change, if it didn't it would be boring. Humans need to adapt and use their decisions making skills to make the world a better place, not just THEIR world. Stop making spur of the moment decisions or whatever your bs excuse is. Pets are a long term commitment and will never find a "better home with more space, time" and ability to train/undo the damage you've caused/allowed (basic obedience/manners and socialization) especially not RIGHT NOW.

I am so frustrated having to save so many dogs that are dumped just on the edge of city limits. Its very hard to prove abandonment and the ones I contain in Marion County aren't considered abandoned since they made it to the shelter. Polk County is the only county that actually has ONE animal control officer that is a sheriff and actually helps me track people down and charge them.

Hondo is a dog that was dumped last October in Falls City (Polk) and has had a lot of interest at out reaches but no one has followed through. He is a good boy and deserves his FOREVER family! He is about a year and a half, neutered, vaccinated and microchipped thanks to PAL - Prevent a Litter - Oregon. He is very social and loves other dogs and cats. He would do well with daily walks and/or a bigger back yard. Once he gets some energy out he's a great couch potato.

I love Hondo but as I say, I need him to move on so I can have room to help the next. The next dog is Bruce who I trapped in Marion County on Memorial day. He is at risk of euthanasia due to his severe anxiety at the shelter.

If you are interested in Hondo please reach out via messenger or email [email protected]

If you'd like to help foster a pup please message me as well. I will not repeat myself in multiple comments so if you are SERIOUS you can message me.

PLEASE spay/neuter and microchip your pets!

Do you research on breeds, cuteness does not equal what you desire personality wise.

Another poor pup I had to trap. He could have been hit by a car and cause a very bad accident. I'm grateful someone saw him and reached out for help.

They called Marion County Dog Services but they are closed Sundays and the non-emergency never returned their call.

Thank you Terri Jacobson Photography for helping so many pups reach their forever families! PAL - Prevent a Litter - Oregon and I am so grateful. I am always amazed at how you get the perfect shot in the cahos ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿพ

The check is in the mail!

Thanks to 17 amazing dogs and their humans, Paws in the Studio 2026 raised $2,000 for PAL.

When I dreamed up this fundraiser, I hoped we'd create beautiful portraits and help some dogs along the way.

Turns out we did both.

Thank you to everyone who booked a session, shared a post, told a friend, or simply followed along. Every bit of support mattered.

These four faces are just a few of the dogs who helped make it happen.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping dogs help dogs.

Every donated item, every bid, and every share helped make this event a success. These funds will go directly toward our foster pups, providing medical care, spay/neuter assistance, food, supplies, and lifesaving support for the dogs and families who rely on our programs.

A special thank you goes out to our incredible item donors. Your generosity provided the amazing experiences, services, gift baskets, and treasures that made this auction so much fun and so successful. We encourage everyone to support these wonderful local businesses and community members whenever you can - they are truly making a difference for animals in our community.

It takes a village to save lives, and we are so fortunate to have such a compassionate and supportive one.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us create brighter futures for animals and the people who love them. ๐Ÿพโค๏ธ

Update:: Amazon just delivered both if the new cameras!! Thank you Ashlee Melson and Piper! This will relieve stress and hopefully I'll get the little guy soon and can share a happy video update. Thank you to everyone who has shared, I appreciate it ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿพ

I am in desperate need of new trail cameras, they are on sale luckily, my current ones are over a year old, out of warranty and not as reliable. When they aren't working it just adds to my stress trying to trap lost/abandoned pets.

The subscription is $20/month per camera as well. So between that, bait abd raising cost of gas it makes me have to limit who I can help within the 3, sometimes 4 or 5, counties I help. I am currently frustrated with my camera I have set on a trap in Sherwood, about 1 hour each way, so that's why I'm reaching out for help.

You can also contribute to the gift card on my Amazon registry or send donations via Venmo, Zelle and PayPal with my [email protected]

Thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way and continue to help.
