SPRING IS COMING! Here are some ideas to get the most out of what spring has to offer with your feathered friends.

Outdoor Time: If weather permits, take your parrot outside for some fresh air and natural sunlight. Ensure that your parrot is safely secured in a cage or harness to prevent flying away.

Sunbathing: Parrots love basking in the sun. Set up a safe spot outside where your parrot can soak up some sunlight. Make sure there's shade available too, so your parrot can cool off when needed.

Nature Walks: Take your parrot for a stroll in a pet-friendly park or garden. Keep your parrot on a harness or in a secure carrier to prevent escape. Allow your parrot to observe the sights and sounds of nature.

Interactive Toys: Introduce new toys and puzzles to keep your parrot mentally stimulated. Consider toys that encourage foraging and problem-solving, as these mimic natural behaviors.

Fresh Foods: Spring brings an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables. Offer your parrot a variety of seasonal treats like berries, leafy greens, and edible flowers. Ensure that any foods you offer are safe for parrots.

Grooming: As the weather warms up, your parrot may start molting. Help them stay comfortable by providing occasional baths. You can make them a small pan of water with fresh dandelions and vegetables for added stimulation.

Training Sessions: Springtime is a great opportunity to teach your parrot new tricks or reinforce existing behaviors. Use positive reinforcement techniques like treats and praise to encourage learning.

Spring Cleaning: Take advantage of the season to clean and rearrange your parrot's living space. Disinfect toys and perches, and consider adding new features to keep your parrot engaged.

Safety First!! Be mindful of potential hazards like toxic plants, pesticides, and predators when spending time outdoors with your parrot. Always supervise outdoor activities and provide a secure environment.

Remember to tailor your activities to your parrot's preferences and comfort level. Every parrot is unique, so observe their reactions and adjust your plans accordingly. With proper care and attention, you and your pet parrot can enjoy a wonderful springtime together.

We raised $415 in December! Thank you guys so much for thinking of HCB around the holidays!

As we limp along we are still trying to do all we can for community parrots 🫶🏻 between being badmouthed, called flippers, while finding it very hard to adopt out anything at all if it’s not free. We came out negative over $3.3k in 2024. This money comes out of OUR income and our pockets working full time, so those who know us, follow us and believe in us are so very loved by us! We will keep doing our best in 2025!

Thank you so much!
