We have kids sign up every year for the Hunting and Outdoor Skills and every year I have to tell them we don’t have a leader for this discipline and they need to choose something else.

If you are interested, please, please register for this upcoming certification in April. If I’m not mistaken, our 4-H Council can help with the registration fee. 😊

An invitation was recently sent out via 4HOnline regarding our Recognition Night which is scheduled for February 18th. There were several emails that were delivered but not opened so I thought I would try Facebook to help get the word out.

If you plan on attending Recognition Night, I will need you to RSVP by sending me an email ([email protected]) by tomorrow afternoon. The original date to RSVP has passed but I know there are some that I have not heard from that would normally attend so I wanted to try one last time, to get the word out.

All of the information is included in the invitation, which is attached to this post but, instead of calling the office, I need you to send me an email.

Tomorrow (January 29) is the last day for regular registration for our State Meats Judging Contest (Saturday, February 18). If you miss the regular registration time, you have until February 5 to sign up for the late registration, but note there will be an additional fee.

The 2023 Missouri 4-H Equine Tour will travel to Oklahoma and Texas to explore the equine industry present in those areas. Highlights of the trip include stops at the Breeder’s Invitational, Re*****on Park, the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, the Fort Worth Stockyards, visits to colleges including Missouri State University and Oklahoma State University, and much more!

Registration is open in 4-H Online Feb. 1 to April 1 – spots are limited.

We just received word that the registration for the 20th annual 4-H Day With the Cardinals will open February 1 and run through 11:59 p.m. March 31.

Registration will be through Cvent at - https://extension.missouri.edu/events/4-h-day-with-the-cardinals-2023

Game day is May 20, 2023 at 6:15 p.m. against the LA Dodgers. Tickets are $30.00 each and includes a specially designed t-shirt. Raffle chances are $1.00 each for the chance to throw out the first pitch (must be a 4-H member), all others can win autographed baseballs and tickets to future games. **New – option to purchase a ball cap for $10.00 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of this event (limit one per order).
A shipping and handling fee will be added to each order.

Everyone will have the chance to participate in a parade around the field. Tickets and t-shirts will be mailed May 4, 2023 with more instructions for the day. Please note – groups that wish to sit together, must submit one order.

Mark the registration date on your calendar and let’s make the 20th anniversary the best year yet!

If anyone has emailed me - I have to apologize to you. I didn’t charge my laptop last night and I don’t have my work email on my phone. My laptop died this morning in the middle of a Zoom meeting and guess what - we still don’t have power. I’m not ignoring you on purpose. As soon as we’re back up and I can get my laptop going again, I’ll be able to get back with you.

Don’t let transportation or cost keep you from being a camp counselor. We’ll get you to your trainings and camp and there is scholarship money available from our 4-H Council to reimburse a portion of your registration money. Now - who needs an application?

Reminder! Those wanting to be a camp counselor, turn those applications in to your local extension office by February 3rd! We will be holding two overnight camps this year, June 12 -15 and June 19-22. Counselors can choose to counsel at one or both camps! A one day camp counselor training will be held on February 18th in Eldon MO. There will also be Counselor Camp June 9th thru the 10th at Camp Clover Point. Counselors must attend the Counselor Training and Counselor Camp. Contact your local extension office for an application and more information.
