Chauncey has watched every one of her shelter friends leave in happy arms — one by one, day after day.
She wags her tail for them, she tries to be happy for them… but each time a kennel empties, hers stays the same.
And she’s still here, still waiting, still wondering when someone will finally choose her. 🥺💔

She doesn’t understand why she’s always the one left behind.
All Chauncey wants is a soft place to rest her head, a gentle voice calling her name, a heart that says, ‘You’re mine… and you’re safe now.’

Maybe today… maybe someone will see her, and choose her. ❤️🙏

When 2022 arrived, life changed in ways no one could have predicted—for both people and pets. For Yogi, it marked the beginning of a new chapter he never asked for. His first family, the ones who had raised him with love, faced a move they couldn’t avoid. It wasn’t an easy decision, and their hearts ached as they gently brought him to the local shelter, whispering promises that someday, someone would love him just as much as they did.

From the moment he arrived, Yogi’s warmth shone through. He wasn’t loud or demanding. Instead, he carried himself with quiet grace, greeting every volunteer with gentle eyes and a slow wag of his tail.

But sometimes, even the most loving hearts go unseen. Visitors would walk past his kennel, their eyes drifting toward younger or smaller dogs. They didn’t notice the calm soul sitting patiently behind the glass, hoping—just once—that someone would pause long enough to truly see him.

Days became weeks. Weeks stretched into months. Seasons changed, and Yogi watched as his friends left one by one, each heading off to homes filled with laughter and love. Still, he waited, carrying quiet hope in his chest like a flicker that refused to go out.

To some, he might have seemed ordinary. But those who truly knew him understood that Yogi was something special. Behind his strong frame and thoughtful eyes lived a gentle heart that only wanted one simple thing—to belong again.

Two years passed, and yet his spirit never dimmed. Every morning, he would stand at the edge of his kennel, tail slowly wagging, ready to greet another new day with the same quiet optimism that had carried him this far.

What happened next in Yogi’s story is touching, and it’s one that will stay with you.

His journey continues in the first 💬 Below ⬇️

Pinto is the #1 LONGEST RESIDENT of the TOWN of HEMPSTEAD ANIMAL SHELTER in Wantagh, NY
He is 6 years old and has spent 4 1/2 years at the shelter!! If you know of any adopters, fosters or rescues that can help, please let them know about Pinto.
We need to help him start the next chapter of his life!
🐕Pinto was found as a stray in October 2017.
🐕He is house trained and crate trained.
🐕He walks nicely on a leash and knows many commands.
🐕He is neutered, microchipped and is up to date with all vaccinations.
🐕Pinto does guard things. Although he enjoys non-pushy dogs, he will be better as a solo pup, so his family can spend time helping him adjust to home life--something he knows little about.
🐕Pinto is a nervous boy who needs a little time to warm up to people. He should be in a home with no small kids and no cats.
🐕He will need dog savvy parents with experience with guarding who can help him adjust to life in a home.
🐕Looking for a 1-2 person adult-only family due to his nervousness
🐕 A meet n greet is required at the shelter to see if everyone is a match
If you would like more information on PINTO please
