"We were fortunate to have adopted Jacob (Jake) from your incredible facility last August. He has brought so much love and fun into our home with his playful antics and gentle purrs. He joins us for bedtime reading, protects us from all lizards and genuinely loves our dog, Zeke. He even joined us on a crazy roadtrip to evacuate from the storms. He is our purrrfect match and we appreciate all your team did to help make that possible. Love, The Gatchells. PS Here are a few fun moments from our first year 😍"

Today is our birthday! 🥳 Friends of Strays turns 47 today as St. Pete's oldest no-kill shelter. For over four decades, our team of dedicated staff, volunteers, and fosters has been saving lives. We're pretty proud of that!

We were trying to show you how photogenic Cider is. This is how the photo shoot went. You’ll just have to see her in person!
Cider is a 1 year old gal who is just a pure, sweet soul. She loves to be VERY close to people (as seen here). Cider is working on her confidence and will do best in a home that will continue to boost her self esteem. She would likely enjoy another dog to pal around with! Cider has some filling out to do but will be a large dog, and she’s ready for adoption!

Behind those bright green eyes, extra whiskery whiskers, and innocent face... is a scheming, adorable mischief-maker!
Sylvia is 4 years old, but she acts like she's about 4 months old. She loves a good play session, especially with a wand toy, and will make you laugh with her antics and comical behavior. When she's not plotting naughtiness, Sylvia loves to sunbathe by the window and watch the birds and butterflies. She's currently in a free-roaming room and does not seem to mind sharing space with other respectful cats.

Our Purrr-Fect Wine Pairing event was a grape-smashing hit! It was our first event of its kind and we are happy to say it sold out. Thank you to Events By The Glass owner Sharon and the four sommeliers who lead each tasting and food pairing: Renée Blubaugh, Rochelle Smith, Maggie Steven, and Sarah Leake; and thank you so much to everyone who attended to support this event! We hope everyone had a great time enjoying fine wine, a delicious spread by Chat N Cheese, and of course meeting our adoptable cats at the Cat Box. And a final thank you to our event sponsors:

Update: Adopted! But we have some other cute puppies still available!
Spooky season is sneaking in 🎃. Can this little Ghost haunt your home? 😍👻
Ghost is a 2-month-old gal who arrived just recently to spirit our shelter! While we don't know a lot about where she came from, we can confirm her style is definitely Casper the Friendly Ghost, not Poltergeist. We believe she will be a large dog when fully grown.

With Florida continuing to experience high euthanasia rates in shelters, we prioritize taking pets from municipal shelters who struggle with resources and capacity.
