🐇💙 Rescue Partnership Spotlight 💙🐰

Buns in the Sun was recently contacted by Palm Beach Parrot & Bird Rescue/Sanctuary Of South Florida with an urgent request for help. A stunning male Angora rabbit had just arrived at their facility after living in a barn, and he was in desperate need of grooming care.

While his “before” photo might look like a fluffy dream, the reality underneath was heartbreaking. Though he had already been treated for fleas before arriving, his coat was still packed with flea dirt and debris buried deep in his fur. On top of that, he was completely covered in painful mats — thick chains of dreadlocked fur pulling at his feet, belly, neck, and ears. This kind of matting not only restricts movement but also prevents a rabbit from properly regulating body temperature, causing constant discomfort.

Though he didn’t leave looking like a show rabbit, he left feeling like one — free, comfortable, and finally able to move with ease. 🐰✨

We’re so grateful to work alongside local rescues and shelters. It truly takes a village to give these animals the second chance they deserve.

💡 A gentle reminder: if you’re interested in adopting this handsome gentleman, please remember that Angora rabbits are high-maintenance pets. They require daily grooming to prevent mats and to keep them healthy and comfortable.

🌴 Vacation Alert from Buns in the Sun! ☀️

Heads up, wonderful clients! Buns in the Sun will be taking a little vacation from March 16–20, 2026 to recharge our batteries (and maybe sneak in a few beach naps 🐚).

We just wanted to give you plenty of notice so you can plan your own trips knowing your pets will have the care they need while we’re away. 🐾💕

We have some amazing lady’s boarding with us right now! Please meet Potato and Pie. Also, long time boarding girls Hershy and Butterscotch😍 All you see is Pies bum in the background she was having a camera shy momentt 🤣 moment. Don’t leave your small animals pet care to chance with neighbors passing by or an unexperienced small animal sitter. Guinea pigs,Rabbits and other small exotics show little to no warning sign when and if they will become ill or injured. This is why it’s super important to ensure that your animals are with a exotic animal guru to ensure a stress-free vacation for everyone.

✨ Meet Thor — a 5-month-old Fuzzy Holland Lop who has already lived through more than any baby bun should.

Originally used as a photo prop, Thor was later listed on Craigslist and discounted due to “matting.” What that listing didn’t say was just how severe that matting truly was.

When a compassionate local family saw his ad, something in their hearts told them to go see him. They drove an hour and a half, and the moment they picked him up, they realized he was in desperate need of help. His fur was matted straight down to the skin, pulling so tightly it had caused bleeding in multiple areas. His armpits, rear, and neck were so bound that he couldn’t fully move his little body. 💔

They reached out to us during their drive home, hoping we could give Thor the care he desperately needed — and we got him in right away.

This wasn’t a spa day. This was survival grooming. We worked slowly and carefully, taking frequent breaks, because this tiny soul had already been through enough. Despite the pain and discomfort, Thor remained calm, gentle, and trusting through the entire process.

Today, we received a photo from his new mom — and we barely recognized him. Not just because he’s cleaner and fluffier, but because his spirit is finally shining through. He’s moving freely, exploring confidently, and finally able to express who he is: a sweet, resilient bunny who finally knows love. 💕🐰

Thank you to this incredible family for seeing past the neglect and choosing compassion. Thor, we are so honored to be part of your new beginning.
