As you all know, Grady was the light of my life. He touched so many lives during his time with me-I just wanted everyone to know that although he was battling cancer these past two years-they were good years. These past two months have really been the only time that he was affected-but I was by his side 95% of the time. I continued to bring him on walks in a huge wagon-he still played and chewed on bones-and he pretty much ate whatever his heart desired. I tried to make him as happy and as comfortable as I could. Without chemo (which we had to stop when he stopped walking), the lymphoma spread-and his little body just couldn’t take it anymore. He was surrounded by people who loved him when he left, and it was peaceful.

Thank you for all of your support-and for loving Grady.

I guess the prayers worked-Grady has an infection in his shoulder...he is on antibiotics...and hopefully it will be gone in a few days. There may be something underlying from his bone cancer....but we won't know that unless the antibiotics don't work. YAY!!! My little boy is a tough one! Now I just need to get his legs working again. On another "GOOD" note-the chemo for the lymphoma seems to be working-his lymph nodes are finally getting smaller.

Things are not going so well with Grady. The vet tried Mustargen-which is a last resort chemo drug when all else seems to fail. He formed an edema in his right arm because his lymph node wasn't draining. The vet put him on a high dose of predinosone-which I think may be working. But they are saying that there may not be anything else to do. He is eating, and wagging his tail and smiling....So now I just have to wait and see and hope and pray.

UPDATE: The vet started another chemo two weeks ago-which didn't work at all. Grady's lymph nodes are slowly growing bigger every day, but he is in fine spirits! Today we try Asparaginase, something that they reserve to use until other chemos aren't working. Hopefully this one will kick-start his remission! Keep your fingers crossed.

UPDATE: Chemo was going fine-every third week we were to go back for another round (for 9 mths). Last week the oncologist noticed that Grady's lymph nodes were not as small as they should be for being on chemo-he is having us come back again tomorrow for another test. If they are still enlarged that means the chemo regimen that Grady is on-which typically has the best results for lymphoma-will have to be changed. We need all the positive thoughts & prayers we can get!

The fist round of chemo is doing the trick! Grady's lymph node has shrunk down to almost nothing.....no side effects, and he is a happy boy. Merry X-Mas!

It is cancer-lymphoma again. The vet said that I caught it super early. The lump on his leg was a fluke-his symptoms would probably not have started for another month-so that was lucky. So off to another 6 months of chemo. Poor guy. Thankfully his system responded well last time-I pray that he does as well this time! Please keep him in your thought and prayers! What a way to end (and start) another year!

I spoke too soon....just got a call from the vet-the biopsy was inconclusive. We have to go back on Tuesday for another one. PLEASE keep those good thoughts going for a few more days.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! They mean so much to us. GOOD NEWS!!!! It is NOT lymphoma. They are sending it out for a pathogist to look at, but the vet says that he thinks we are in the clear. He also said that Grady is a miracle dog-he is amazed that he has been in remission for so long especially with both types of cancer that he has! I tell you-it is love for and from his mama that does it!

Grady needs everyone's good thoughts and well wishes again, It's like a bad dream-one year ago (next week) Grady was diagnosed with lymphoma. He has been in remission and perfect all year. I found a hard lump in the back of his leg...hopefully nothing....but it feel exactly like the one he had last year when he was diagnosed. We have a 1:30 vet appt. The only thing I want from santa is a happy healthy Grady!
