New world screwworm has been officially identified in Texas. Thankfully it is still 600 miles away from the Arizona border but we must remain diligent and on alert for its possible arrival.

If you are castrating, dehorning, lancing abscesses, have any injuries on your cattle or horses or sheep or goats etc please treat them more consistently and carefully than you have previously.

Merck has come out with a pour on Exzolt Cattle-Ca. It has a medication in it that will kill the larvae when they take their first meal. Investing in a bottle to have on hand before you need it might be a great idea.

If you find any maggots on any of your animals please please please bring a maggot in so we can send it off for testing.

Thank you for your concern and diligence in this matter. Together we can do our best to keep it from becoming the devastation that it might be.

Today is Hug Your Cat Day, a fun reminder to celebrate the special bond we share with our feline friends. While not every cat enjoys being hugged, many cats love affection in their own way. Whether your cat prefers cuddling on your lap, rubbing against your legs, or curling up beside you, today is a...

Haven’t used her services personally. But I do get calls looking for pet sitters

Hi, I’m Ashlyn Broussard — owner and operator of WoofPack, Lafayette and Youngsville’s go-to dog walking and pet sitting service since 2018!

Born and raised right here in Lafayette, I’ve always believed our pets deserve the same love and care we’d want for ourselves — and that’s exactly what I strive to provide for every furry friend who becomes a part of my pack.

With years of experience and a true passion for animals, I’ve built WoofPack to feel like an extended family. Whether your pup needs daily walks, vacation visits, or just a little extra attention while you’re away, I’m here to help make their days brighter.

Clients know me as trustworthy, dependable, always on time, and detail-oriented — with excellent communication every step of the way. Most importantly, they say I love their pets like they’re my own. I’m proud to have earned over 50 five-star reviews that reflect the care and consistency I bring to every visit.

When I’m not out on walks or visits, you’ll usually find me spending time with my own sweet girl, Maggie. I showed up to foster Maggie during Hurricane Laura in 2020 and never returned her — officially adopting her just days later. Maggie was adopted from the Lafayette Animal Shelter & Care Center.

Maggie came to me heartworm-positive and completed treatment. In July 2024, she made the journey to LSU for a total ear ablation surgery to remove a cancerous tumor from her right ear. While she can no longer hear from that ear, she always hears the word “treat!”

She’s been through so much in her short life, but today she’s healthy, thriving, and living her absolute best life. Maggie even served two years on the Krewe des Chiens Royalty Court, our local doggy celebrity!

Her strength, sweetness, and resilience inspire me every day. 🐾
