Please help us find loving homes for Ernie and JF. They have been boarding with us off and on and due to unforeseen circumstances, the owner can no longer keep the cats. Both are seniors. Both are very loving and nice. Ernie is the white and black one. He is 14 years old and diabetic. He takes his insulin shots like a champ. JF is the long haired black one. He is 12 years old, very sweet but on the shy side. He does like to cuddle and hide under his blankets. Both are neutered and up to date on their vaccinations. If interested in giving them a loving home or if you have any questions please stop by or call the clinic. 816-232-4233

As Halloween approaches here are a few tips to help keep your furry friends safe.

1. The trick-or-treat candies are not for pets. Chocolate and artificial sweeteners can be poisonous, even in small amounts. I know it is hard to say no with those little eyes staring at you but be strong and resist the urge😉

2. Please don't leave your pets outside in the yard, especially black cats. You never know when a prankster may be walking by.

3. Try and keep your pets away from the door or confined. On Halloween your door is constantly being opened and closed to strangers standing on your porch in unusual and scary costumes. This could cause stress, unexpected aggression and or an escape attempt. Please make sure your furry friend has some sort of identification on.

4. Be cautious with pet costumes. Don't dress your furry friend up unless you know they'll love and tolerate it. Make sure the costumes do not hinder their eyesight, hearing, breathing and movement. Oh and have your pet try on his costume before the big night.

5. Keep Halloween decorations away and out of reach from your pet. Pumpkins, corn and gourds can get moldy over time, yuck! Electrical and battery operated decorations can cause harm if chewed on or swallowed. Please use caution when burning candles.

6. Last but not least, we hope every one has a......

Spring has sprung, and with the change of season, our thoughts turn towards potential springtime hazards for our furry friends.

April showers bring May flowers, and a variety of bugs. Please make sure you treat your pet with good quality flea and tick medication as well as heartworm prevention medication. We have a variety available.

Just like us, pets can be allergic to plants, pollens, dust and foods. Your pet may sneeze, itch, get a rash or have a life threatening anaphylactic shock to stings and bites.

Many insecticides, fertilizers and herbicides that keep our plants and lawns healthy and green may be dangerous to your pet if he/she ingests them. Please use caution when using, follow label instructions and store these products out of the way.

Spring cleaning is a tradition in many households. Almost all cleaning products, even natural ones, contain chemicals that are dangerous to pets. Please keep all cleaners and chemicals out of your pets' way.

HAVE A LOVELY ENJOYABLE SPRING
