🦃 Thanksgiving Pet Safety Tips 🐾
Here are a few things to keep an eye out for as Thanksgiving approaches:
🍗 Turkey & Bones
A small amount of plain, cooked turkey is okay — but no seasoned skin or bones. Bones can splinter and cause serious internal injuries.
🍠 Toxic Foods
Many Thanksgiving favorites are dangerous for pets, including onions, garlic, grapes/raisins, chocolate, and xylitol-sweetened desserts. Keep plates and counters pet-proof!
🧈 Fatty Foods & Pan Drippings
Rich, greasy foods can lead to pancreatitis, a painful and potentially serious condition. Skip sharing leftovers from the table.
🌰 Beware of Nuts
Certain nuts — especially macadamia nuts — can be toxic to dogs. Better safe than sorry.
🗑️ Trash Temptations
Holiday garbage is extra enticing. Bones, string, skewers, and food scraps can all cause trouble. Make sure the trash is secure.
🎉 Guests & Door Safety
With visitors coming and going, pets can slip out easily. Keep them secured and offer a quiet space if the excitement becomes overwhelming.
