The cute doggos at Columbia Humane Society turn 1 more year older today! Fern seems very intent on understanding the human behind the camera. We asked them what they wanted and they all unanimously (from what we could tell, it got real loud) said: Bones, to play fetch, and sunbathe their bellies.

SERVICES UPDATE

With the retirement of the longtime ACD Roger Kadell services from the county will be limited. During the transition, hiring and training of new Community Animal Officers, calls for services may be provided by Patrol Deputies or City Police Officers. Shelter staff will continue to care for the stray and abandoned animal in the county. Finders may be asked to drop found animals off at the shelter.

In Home euthanasia services are discontinued as of 07/25/2025. After the training of new staff, some emergency euthanasia services may be provided. Persons needing such services are advised to contact their veterinarian or seek services with Dove Lewis animal hospital in Portland or Tanasbourne emergency Veterinarian. Some areas of the county maybe serviced by one of the home euthanasia companies.

During this time period the best option for Animal Services is to continue to call NON EMERGENCY dispatch at 503-397-1521. They will direct your call to the proper agency that will be handling your particular issues.
