***ADOPTED!!! Have a great life, Jazz!

Meet Jazz, a neutered blue merle male that will be three years old on March 26. Jazz weighs in at about 60 pounds. He was well-loved in his home, but through no fault of his own, he is looking for a new one. Jazz is housebroken, crate-trained, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines and preventatives. He's had some training and knows how to heel, sit, down, paw, and stay, but he will need a refresher. He walks well on a leash, rides nicely in the car, and is good for nail trims and grooming. He enjoys toys and loves a good belly rub.
Jazz is friendly with all humans and may be able to live with the right canine companion. He currently lives with an older neutered male Aussie as well as a spayed female. He's never lived with cats or young children so won't be placed with them. Older children (12 and up) would be considered. A traditionally fenced yard to keep him safe is preferred, but homes without will be considered on an individual basis. No underground or electric fences. Jazz is very biddable and eager to learn; he would be a great obedience prospect or any other dog sport you asked him to do. He would also be just as happy as a hiking partner, but he does need a job-one that doesn't involve counter surfing, investigating cabinets, or unrolling toilet paper. Those things will require management. Bored Aussies find ways to entertain themselves!
Jazz is not in the ARPH program; we are screening homes for the owner. He is located in southeast PA. Jazz's main desire is to please his person. If you think you could be that person and can give him the exercise and attention he needs, please submit an application from our website at www.aussierescue.org
Jazz video, not the best quality but it's very clear he is a nice worker!

This pretty girl is Raven, ARPH #14664! Raven is a four year old spayed black tri female with absolutely the best temperament, according to her foster home. She was very much loved in her previous home and only came to us due to her owner's terminal illness. She is the daughter of Millie, ARPH #14446. A nice size at around 40 pounds, she has excellent house manners. She has yet to meet a dog or person big or small that she doesn't immediately fall in love with. She loves children! There was a cat in her previous home, so dog savvy cats would be okay. No other females, but she would be fine with a male canine companion. When she came into foster care, Raven had no understanding of simple commands and was not crate trained. It didn't take long to get her used to the crate with the crate games plan, although she will sometimes whine a bit when she first goes in. Raven is very food-motivated and is learning quickly. Now she is doing well with sit, come, working on “off” (furniture and jumping up on you gently to greet). Leash walking has improved tremendously. Perfectly house trained, Raven just doesn't have a tell sign... she holds it till you walk near the door then just stands there.... OH! If it is raining, though, she doesn't go right out but hits the brakes and looks at you as if to say, “Make it stop”! But give her a minute, and her need to go out weighs her desire to stay dry. She's very friendly towards humans, but watch out for squirrels... she will literally try to climb the tree after them! A fenced yard would be best to keep Raven safe. She likes toys and is fond of her snuggle puppy. She is up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. This sweet girl is truly a diamond in the rough and will make a wonderful companion in the right home! She is fostered in Tonawanda, NY. If you are already approved, contact Kay at [email protected]. If you are not already approved, please fill out an application for adoption from our website at www.aussierescue.org All interested parties MUST submit an application.

Meet Millie, ARPH #14446! Millie was very much loved but sadly came to us due to her owner's terminal illness. She is a seven year old spayed black tri(turning eight in January), up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. She loves all humans, greeting everyone with a wiggle, just looking for attention and petting. She is a velcro Aussie, wanting to be with her person(or at least in sight), and will be underfoot wherever that person might be. Millie is VERY food motivated as evidenced by her weigh in of 92 pounds at her vet visit! Less intake and more exercise will continue her weight loss program from a max of 106 at the end of April in her former home, although she'll be on the larger side even at a good weight. Inside that bulky body, though, is a dog that wants very much to be frisky and active. She LOVES going for walks and does nicely on leash. A fenced yard is preferred, but homes without them will be considered on an individual basis.
She's not a fan of the crate and doesn't really need one, but she will go in for treats. Millie has excellent house manners and will let you know if she needs to go out. She has opinions and will sometimes vocalize them, especially if she wants treats. Given her size, it's not easy, but she will sit and down for the right treats. She does alert bark when someone comes or she hears a car go by; no one will sneak up on you with her around!
Millie is fine with cats and lives with two in her foster home. She lived with other dogs in her previous home and with one now, but she can be bossy and prefers not to share toys, although she's not obsessed with them. She won't be placed with another female, but she could be okay with the right male.
Millie's dream home would be with someone who is home most of the time, enjoys long walks, will give her a couch or chair where she can be comfy, and who will love her for the rest of her life. She will be a lovely companion and will be totally devoted to her person or persons.
Millie is fostered near Honesdale, PA. If you are already approved, contact Kay at [email protected]. If you are not already approved, please fill out an application for adoption from our website at www.aussierescue.org All interested parties MUST submit an application.

Meet Bingo, a seven year old red tri Aussie who finds himself in need of a new home through no fault of his own. Bingo is neutered and up to date on vaccinations. He is not in the ARPH program; we are screening homes for the owner. Bingo is a friendly boy that loves fetching, either balls or Frisbees, and will bring them back. The evaluator referred to him as “a very nice dog”.
Bingo would be best with a female canine companion rather than a male, and no cats. He was raised with children who are now ages 9 and 10, but he might be a bit too exuberant for younger ones. He's a sturdy 65 pounds, so restricted food intake and an exercise plan would be in order. He rides well in a crate in a car and is well-behaved at the vet's.
Bingo has not lived inside so is not housetrained. But it shouldn't take much to do that; adult dogs normally housetrain much faster and easier because they are physically capable of holding it. He walks well on leash and knows sit but would benefit from further training. He's very smart and willing to learn.
This sweet boy has a lot of potential and would love to be your new best friend. He will be very devoted to his person. If he checks all the boxes on your bingo card and you'd like to be the winner of Bingo's unconditional love, please submit an application for adoption at www.aussierescue.org Bingo is located in western PA.

This handsome Australian Shepherd boy is Steele, who just turned six years old in early June. He is neutered and up to date on preventatives. Unfortunately, Steele finds himself in need of a new home because his owner has sadly passed away unexpectedly. He is housebroken, crate-trained, rides well in the car, and weighs in at around 58 pounds. Steele has had extensive training and has an impressive list of titles in several venues, including traditional obedience, rally obedience, tricks, Fetch, and scent work: SCN4 novice level title(ASCA); ORT, NW1, and L1I(NACSW); CD, BN, RA, FDC, SWN, CGCA, CGCU, TKI, ATT, and FITG(AKC). He is quite accomplished!
But the best thing about Steele is that he would be a wonderful companion. He is quite social and loves people. He's not lived with cats so would be best without them. He might be okay with a female canine companion but no other males. Steele is on the medium to higher energy scale and will need regular, consistent exercise ; he will also need an experienced owner. His exuberance might be a bit much for younger children unless they are very dog-savvy, so over 8-9 years of age would be best. Steele sometimes has a lot to say about things. A fenced yard is preferred, but homes without one would be considered on an individual basis.
This special boy is ready to continue his path of competition success or to be the best, most devoted companion you've ever had. Whatever you want him to be, he'll be all in. He is located near Binghamton, NY, and anyone interested must travel to meet him. Although Steele is not in the ARPH program, we are helping to find him a new home. If you think that might be you, the first step would be to submit an adoption application from the ARPH website, www.aussierescue.org The adoption fee would be a donation to rescue.

Meet Twiggy! This beautiful blue merle girl is not in the ARPH program; we are assisting the owner in finding a new home without other female dogs. She might be okay with the right male but would probably be best as an only. The opposite is true with humans though, Miss Twiggy prefers women. She is four years old and weighs in at around 42 pounds. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, crate trained and house trained. A fenced yard is preferred for her safety, but homes without one will be considered on an individual basis. Kids 12 and up would be okay, but she's unknown with cats.
Twiggy is a whip smart, high energy, high drive Aussie that will need an experienced handler. She knows many commands and tricks and is easily trained. She loves going hiking and mountain biking with the adult family daughter. Her Aussie reserve makes her cautious and barky when meeting new people. But break out the treats, and she's there. She also loves toys. Twiggy is excellent in the car, at the vet's, and at the groomer's.

Check out this clever girl's video!!

In the right home, Twiggy will be an amazing companion and will form a strong bond with her people. If you think you have the time, energy, and experience to live with a real Aussie, Twiggy might be your girl. She is currently living near Putnam Valley, NY. If you are interested in adopting Twiggy, please submit an application from our website at www.aussierescue.org

This adorable boy is still looking for his forever home!! Meet River, ARPH #14663, a 20 month-old neutered red tri male with a higher energy level. He’s up to date on shots and preventatives; is housebroken and crate trained. River came to ARPH through no fault of his own from a home with two other dogs and a couple cats. Originally adopted from a shelter, he got along well with his doggy sister, but the older, intact male dog did not appreciate having River around. The situation was escalating, and the owners made the hard decision to find River a new home.
River has been very good in his crate at his foster home at night or when left alone, but he really prefers to be with his people and is quite the snuggler. He is an active boy who LOVES to play; whether it is chasing a Frisbee or ball in the yard, playing with a toy in the house, or (according to his former owners) swimming. But River also has a good off button. When you tell him playtime is over, he is quite happy to amuse himself with a toy or snuggle with you on the couch until it’s time to do something else. He loves learning new things and is very food motivated. He is learning the house rules in his foster home like waiting for permission before going out the door and what ‘get off’ means. He’s getting pretty good at that ‘ get off’ one. He already knows crate, sit, down, shake, let it go and roll-over. He was seldom on a leash in his previous home and has quite a pull. He is getting better, but his leash manners are a work in progress. River has a fair recall, but he can be easily distracted. He is also becoming comfortable enough in his foster home to alert when strangers come to the door, but once introduced he is excited to say hi and welcomes them as a new friend. River would do well in a home as an only dog or with a female playmate. He did live with dog-savvy cats but tended to resource guard with them. No children under 16. The right home would have a traditionally fenced yard and would be someone willing to take the time to continue River's training. He definitely needs regular, consistent exercise and might be able to do dog sports or tricks. He'll be a wonderful companion and a lot of fun in the right home. River is fostered in southeast PA.
Are you the perfect home for River? If so and you are already approved, please contact Kay at [email protected] If interested and have not yet been approved, ***please submit an application for adoption at www.aussierescue.org
