🐾 Why ER Wait Times Can Vary 🐾
At Southwest Animal Emergency Clinic, pets are treated based on the severity of their condition through a process called triage. This means patients with life-threatening emergencies may be seen immediately, even if they arrived later.
Critical emergencies can include:
🚨 Difficulty breathing
🚨 Active seizures
🚨 Severe trauma or bleeding
🚨 Collapse or unresponsiveness
🚨 Suspected toxin ingestion
We understand waiting can be stressful, especially when your pet isn’t feeling well. Please know our team is working hard to care for every patient as quickly and safely as possible, while prioritizing those in critical condition. ❤️
Thank you for your patience, kindness, and understanding as we care for our community’s pets.

🇺🇸4th of July is coming up! 🇺🇸

It's one of the biggest holidays of the year, but it can also be one of the scariest for our pets. With all of the fireworks booming, yards being busy with parties and BBQs - pets can easily become injured or sick. Here are some tips to help you enjoy your holiday while keeping your pets safe!

SIGNS OF ANXIETY IN PETS:
-panting
-pacing
-drooling
-hiding
-decreased appetite
-abnormal urination and/or defecation
-dilated pupils
-excessive grooming or yawning

KEEPING PETS SAFE AT BBQS:
-keep people food out of reach to prevent possible toxicities for GI upset in your pet
-keep lids on trash cans secure to prevent your pet from getting into the garbage
-make sure all gates and latches are secure to prevent your pet from escaping if they become panicked
-keep all tags and microchips for your pet up to date incase they do escape during a stressful event

COMFORTING PETS DURING FIREWORKS
-keep windows closed and play soothing music or white noise
-stay with your pet to comfort them
-ask your veterinarian about calming medications or supplements

‼️PLEASE SHARE- EASTER LILY TOXICITY‼️
If you are gifted or purchasing any flower arrangement that contains Lilies THROW THEM AWAY!!! If any part of this plant is ingested by your cat it can lead to kidney failure or death. It requires days of hospitalization and monitoring. We see an increase of these toxicities around the holidays. Help spread the word!
