My husband and I had three weddings in three days.
We weren’t planning on it… Originally, we were going to get married in Las Vegas with all our family and friends at a beautiful outdoor garden venue. Except that the US border wouldn’t let my Canadian fiancé into the country; they decided he was trying to immigrate illegally and would not be convinced that we intended to live in Canada.
In speaking with a lawyer, the best solution we could come up with was to fly to Canada that night, and get married the next morning at Vancouver City Hall (Wedding #1 on April 3rd). Once I had a (completed) wedding date, I was able to initiate my online application for permanent residence in Canada.
With paperwork and documents in hand, we rushed to the airport for a flight to Las Vegas. Luckily, the border guards were less suspicious this time, and we made it to Vegas in time for the big family wedding on April 4th.
The Twist

My husband had a lifelong dream to be married by mini-Elvis. I don’t know why. But his friends told me Steve has been talking about this dream for more than 20 years. When he suggested we get married by mini-Elvis, it was a hard no. But behind the scenes, I figured, why not! It seemed strange to me, but if it’s his dream, let’s make it happen.
