Views from camp week 5 so far… this is a fun group that’s doing lots of playing and even more learning. Coat colors, horse anatomy, saddle parts, and more! Plus lots of riding and hands-on horsey time.

We kicked off our final summer camp session with some horse-less horseback riding! This allows campers to practice their verbal and rein cues with less pressure and while having lots of fun! It’s a good thing our horses are better trained than these guys 😉

🌟Horse Spotlight: Kajun🌟
Kajun is one of the 3 horses that GaitWay owns (not leased from an owner)! Bought off of Craigslist, we’ve had him for over 10 years, and he is definitely a barn favorite. Kajun is a Gypsy Vanner- strong, steady, and sweet. He has anhidrosis, meaning he doesn’t sweat enough to cool himself down- he requires special care during our sweltering summer months. Kajun is a playful black and white pinto who loves nothing more than his post-ride treats and hanging out with his friends in the pasture.

Summer camp shenanigans!! Kajun was the only one of our horses who wanted to eat the fruit roll ups (if you know him, that’s not a surprise) but the rest of our campers had fun racing each each other!
