I finally chose a name for this little side business of mine! Misfit Makeovers 💙
I’ve always been the one to take in little misfit rescues that were otherwise overlooked. Now I have found a love for grooming some of those very same “misfits.” The sassy ones, special needs ones, old ones, and everything in between.
My client Simon is a perfect example of this. He is a rescue adopted from Hawk Creek Animal Shelter and his background wasn’t the best. His previous owner was stuck in an abusive relationship for a while and as much as she fell victim, so did the animals. When she finally escaped she brought Simon and his sister with her but soon realized they weren’t happy in an apartment setting. She made the hard but loving decision to surrender them. When we first started Simon’s grooming process he was terrified. He would scream, bark and attempt to nip the clippers. I went to his house, sat on the floor with him, gave him several breaks and frankly several treats. Now he rolls on his tummy for his groom!

Another groom in the books for the wonderfully handsome Simon!
For those wondering because he does look like a “mini Aussie” Simon here is a mixture of breeds used to create that mini look and due to this his coat becomes extremely dense causing him to show symptoms of overheating and being extremely uncomfortable. Typically you wouldn’t shave a double coated breed however Simon’s coat is a little wonky due to his mix so he’s a special case. At the beginning of our grooming journey Simon was very unsure of things but with positive reinforcement and giving him breaks as he needs them, Simon has decided this whole grooming thing isn’t so terrible. 💙
