I got to do another groom on little Riley. Look at how much she’s grown already! Sent her home with a little Christmas sweater and a couple days later I received her photo with Santa. It’s been such a joy to be a part of her journey. I love seeing my clients happy and healthy 💙💙💙

It’s not just dogs that need regular grooming!
🐾🐾🐾
Meet my newest personal rescue, Saber! Upon picking him up, I discovered that he was absolutely covered in thick mats. They were from his cheeks down to his paws and all the way up his tail. I honestly don’t know how this poor kiddo was using the bathroom. After over an hour of very carefully shaving him, he’s feeling much better. Thankfully he only had a few small hotspots and some dander under all those mats. We also had a vet visit today to address his mouth and discovered he has an autoimmune disease that is causing ulcers on his lip. He started medications tonight and we are on the road to healing ❤️‍🩹

I finally chose a name for this little side business of mine! Misfit Makeovers 💙
I’ve always been the one to take in little misfit rescues that were otherwise overlooked. Now I have found a love for grooming some of those very same “misfits.” The sassy ones, special needs ones, old ones, and everything in between.
My client Simon is a perfect example of this. He is a rescue adopted from Hawk Creek Animal Shelter and his background wasn’t the best. His previous owner was stuck in an abusive relationship for a while and as much as she fell victim, so did the animals. When she finally escaped she brought Simon and his sister with her but soon realized they weren’t happy in an apartment setting. She made the hard but loving decision to surrender them. When we first started Simon’s grooming process he was terrified. He would scream, bark and attempt to nip the clippers. I went to his house, sat on the floor with him, gave him several breaks and frankly several treats. Now he rolls on his tummy for his groom!

Another groom in the books for the wonderfully handsome Simon!
For those wondering because he does look like a “mini Aussie” Simon here is a mixture of breeds used to create that mini look and due to this his coat becomes extremely dense causing him to show symptoms of overheating and being extremely uncomfortable. Typically you wouldn’t shave a double coated breed however Simon’s coat is a little wonky due to his mix so he’s a special case. At the beginning of our grooming journey Simon was very unsure of things but with positive reinforcement and giving him breaks as he needs them, Simon has decided this whole grooming thing isn’t so terrible. 💙
