The Road Home Animal Project

The Road Home Animal Project TRHAP is a 100% volunteer. We are an Ohio registered 501c3 non profit organization that helps rehab and rehome animals. We are licensed with The Ohio Dept of Ag.

Private home foster based in and around St Clairsville, Ohio. We are 100% volunteers, licensed by Ohio Agriculture Dept, Division of Animal Health and we are a 501c3, non-profit organization. We are located in Belmont County Ohio. It is our mission to help animals in need. We work with dogs, some small companion animals and livestock on a limited basis and on foster availability. We do not handle

cats because there are numerous organizations in our area that work with and only handle cats. Animals that come into our rescue are from owner surrenders, shelters, medical cases that are surrendered to veterinarians, unwanted animals from breeders. WE NEVER BUY OR PAY FOR ANIMALS THAT COME INTO OUR RESCUE. We do not have a specific facility. Any housing of animals will be on a foster and volunteer basis. We do not have animals living in crates or kennels. We have them in foster homes and livestock on farms. We educate animal owners on the proper care of their animals. We will work together with animal owners to place animals in need into loving, forever homes, but they must fit our program, and we must have an appropriate foster. Dogs receive the following as routine care; Heart worm & Lyme testing if over 6 months in age, dewormings, microchip, Dhlppc , Lyme, Kennel cough & rabies vaccine, spay or neuter & microchip. We adopt to approved homes (includes out of state). We require an application to be completed before meeting a dog. If you are the approved adopter, we will reach out to you to make arrangements. Unfortunately, we cannot contact everyone individually that applied for an animal. We are almost always available, but please respect our hours. Please do not call us outside of our posted hours except for a dire emergency. Main contact numbers are 740-579-1990 or 304-312-6882. Please feel free to text. Adopters that are local to us, your adoption fee covers the following through our vet only.
✓ DHLPPC vaccine
✓ Lyme vaccine
✓ Bordetella vaccine
✓ Rabies vaccine
✓ Deworming
✓ Spay/neuter
✓ Microchip w/lifetime registration

We highly recommend that you arrange an appointment with your vet to get established in the event your pup needs care. If you choose to stay with New Horizon Animal Hospital or your pup needs care or services, other than those listed above, they become the owner’s responsibility, and you will have to cover the costs at the time of service. If you are not local, you will be under contract to provide services through your vet and provide proof of vetting when completed.

Buoy 💙
7 mo old Lab mix. 70lbs
Shelter pull

Buoy was relinquished to the local dog shelter following his owner's passing, as no family members were able to care for him.
This boy has an exceptional personality and loves to be with you. He started the cell dog program, which focuses on basic obedience training.

*He had a minor incident at the shelter which is why his foot was wrapped. He is fine now and foot has healed*

Volunteers are not paid because they are worthless, It is because they are priceless.

📣Our fosters do the hard work and are truly appreciated. Thank you!

(This pup is not available. We helped him reach safety by getting him to another rescue last week.)

10 days ago Rosa arrived to TRHAP.
She was born with an open fontanelle. Last few days she was having issues due to that and was on meds from our vet to hopefully help her. This morning she started having seizures and we had to make the decision that no one ever wants to make.

In those 10 days, she was safe, she was cherished, and she was loved because of her foster momma and her family. She had comfort, warmth, and dignity in the time she had—something she may never have known otherwise.

RIP Rosa 💕

Our Story

The Road Home Animal Project is a 501c3 non-profit organization serving the Tri-State (OH, PA, WV) Area. It is our mission to help animals in need. We work with dogs and livestock based on the availability of fosters. We do not have animals living in crates or kennels. We have dogs in foster homes and livestock on farms. We educate animal owners on the proper care of their animals. We will work together with animal owners to place animals in need into loving, forever homes.

Dogs receive the following as routine care: Heartworm and Lyme testing, dewormings, microchip, Dhlppc or Dhlpp vaccines and boosters, Lyme vaccines and boosters, Kennel cough vaccine, rabies vaccine and spay or neuter. Dogs may also receive bloodwork, dentals, x-rays or any additional care recommended by our vets. If they are Heartworm positive or Lyme positive, we treat them.

We have no specific facility, any housing of animals will be on a foster and volunteer basis. Interested in fostering, adopting or helping?? Contact us.

We adopt to approved homes (includes out of state). We are almost always available, but please respect our hours to call us unless it is an emergency. We are all volunteers.
