☀️🐾 Robin’s official statement on today’s Making Strides for Strays walk:

“It is TOO HOT. I will continue supporting homeless pets… from the ground… directly next to my water bowl.” 💦😂

Huge love to ADOPT Pet Shelter today for all they do for animals in our community. We get to see firsthand how deeply their staff, volunteers, fosters, and supporters care — not just about finding homes, but about making sure animals feel safe, supported, and truly loved along the way. ❤️

Robin is one of countless dogs whose life changed because someone chose to care. Today we walk for all of them. 🐾

Some organizations don’t just rescue animals — they change lives. ❤️🐾

Over the last year, we’ve had the privilege of fostering through A.D.O.P.T. Pet Shelter, and getting to know the incredible people behind the work has made an enormous impact on us.

We’ve seen firsthand how deeply the staff and volunteers care. The long hours. The emotional investment. The constant advocacy. The celebration when animals succeed and the heartbreak when things are hard. These are people who show up for homeless pets again and again because they genuinely believe every animal deserves safety, love, and a chance. ✨

We see it in the continued support they give Domino at Do Better Training while he waits for his future family. We see it in the way people still ask about Robin, celebrate him, and continue loving him even after he became part of our family forever. ❤️

Because of ADOPT, homeless pets are not alone.
They are seen.
They are supported.
They are advocated for.
And they are given the opportunity to succeed. 🐶🐱

That’s why our Running for Robin fundraiser means so much to us.

To everyone who has donated already: THANK YOU. Truly. Your kindness and support mean the world not only to us, but to the animals and people working tirelessly behind the scenes every single day. 💕

If you’re able to donate or even simply share the fundraiser, we would be incredibly grateful. Every contribution helps ADOPT continue providing medical care, behavioral support, shelter, enrichment, love, and second chances to animals who need it most. 🐾

Sometimes the most important part of training is rest. 💭🐾

We live in a world that constantly tells us we should always be doing *more* with our dogs:
✨ more training
✨ more exposure
✨ more socialization
✨ more activity
✨ more practice

But learning does not happen well in overwhelmed nervous systems. 💛

Dogs need time to process the world around them.
They need opportunities to decompress. 🌿
They need sleep. 😴
They need calm. 🕯️
They need moments where absolutely nothing is being asked of them at all.

Rest is not “giving up.”
Rest is not laziness.
Rest is not wasted time.

✨ Rest is part of learning. ✨

Sometimes the kindest and most productive thing we can do is recognize when our dogs need support, space, and recovery instead of more pressure.

Progress is not always flashy.
Sometimes progress looks like:
🌼 softer body language
🌼 deeper breaths
🌼 choosing to settle
🌼 feeling safe enough to relax
🌼 learning that the world is safe

And those moments matter deeply. 🐶💕

🎓🐾 LOOK AT OUR BOY GO!!! 🐾🎓

Robin recently graduated from classes with our friends at ADOPT Training for A Sound Beginning and we are SO unbelievably proud of him 💙✨

This goofy little gremlin has been working hard on confidence, focus, learning around distractions, and navigating the world with more comfort and joy — and seeing him out there thriving makes our hearts explode a little 🥹💛

One of the biggest things we believe at Do Better Training is that learning never stops. Even as trainers, we LOVE getting out into the community, learning from other amazing professionals, and giving our dogs opportunities to practice their skills in new environments with new people and dogs 🐶🌎

Robin has grown so much through these experiences and honestly… we think he knows he’s cute and talented now 😎✨

Huge thank you to our friends at ADOPT Training for A Sound Beginning for creating such supportive, thoughtful, humane classes. We are incredibly lucky to have such wonderful trainers and educators in our community 💕

Way to go, Robin!!! We are endlessly proud of you 🎉🐾

✨ Sometimes training looks like formal sessions… and sometimes it looks like a field trip to Wet Nose for snacks, social time, and practicing real-life skills! 🐾💙🌈

Domino joined us for an adventure at Geneva Commons and, as always, everyone at Wet Nose was AMAZING. 🛍️✨ Every employee made sure to stop by and say hello to Dom — and honestly… we think he’s ready to move in there permanently. 😂🏡🐶

During his outing, Dom also met a wonderful new friend who generously treated him to a popsicle and let us tell you… it was VERY enthusiastically enjoyed. 🍭🐾😋

But the best part?
Domino was an absolute ⭐ ROCKSTAR ⭐ the entire trip.

He saw:
🐕 Other dogs
👧 Kids
🛒 Busy stores
👋 Lots of new people
🎉 Tons of exciting distractions

…and he handled it all BEAUTIFULLY. 💫 He stayed engaged with Dr. Andy, greeted people politely, and showed everyone just how sweet, thoughtful, and adaptable he truly is. 🖤

This boy has worked SO hard and continues to shine every chance he gets. Now all he needs is a family to finally give him the forever home he deserves. 🏡✨

Domino is available for adoption through ADOPT Pet Shelter 🐾

Handicapping is an important part of healthy dog play and social communication. 🐾

Handicapping is when a dog intentionally adjusts their play style to make interactions feel safer, easier, and more inviting for another dog. It is a HUGE part of appropriate social behavior and something we love seeing in well-socialized dogs.

For dogs like Knoxx — who is an absolutely enormous Great Dane — that skill becomes especially important. Even though Knoxx is one of the gentlest, friendliest boys around, his size alone can feel intimidating to smaller or more cautious dogs. So what does he do? He changes his behavior to help other dogs feel comfortable engaging with him. 💜

Instead of towering over other dogs or charging into play, Knoxx often:
✨ Lowers his body to the ground
✨ Curves and softens his movements
✨ Makes himself look smaller and less threatening
✨ Uses gentle play solicitation behaviors
✨ Pauses and waits for consent from the other dog

And honestly? He’s beautiful to watch.

These moments matter because good social skills in dogs are not about being the loudest, fastest, or most playful dog in the room. They’re about communication, flexibility, consent, and the ability to adjust based on the comfort level of your social partner.

Dogs who handicap themselves are showing us that they are paying attention. They are listening. They are actively trying to make play feel good for everyone involved. 🐶✨

Knoxx is such a wonderful example of how thoughtful and socially intelligent dogs can be. Big guy, tiny play style. 💕

We are so excited to support our friends at ADOPT Pet Shelter and their amazing *Makin’ Strides for Strays* event! 🐾💜

This cause is incredibly close to our hearts — not just because of the lifesaving work ADOPT does every single day, but because dogs like Robin exist because people cared enough to give them a chance. Watching Robin grow, learn, feel safe, and truly start thriving has been such a powerful reminder of why this work matters so much. 🥹

We’re also continuing our *Running for Robin* fundraiser to help support the animals and humans at ADOPT who work tirelessly for dogs who need a little extra understanding, patience, and compassion. Every donation helps. Every share helps. Every bit of support matters. 💜

Robin was supposed to be Domino’s mentor on their forest preserve adventure. 🍃🐾

Instead… he chose chaos. 😅

There were zoomies. There was splashing. There was “absolutely not staying on task right now” energy. And honestly? That’s okay.

Because learning was still happening.

When we first met Robin, forest preserve walks felt overwhelming for him. He stayed glued close, worried about the environment, unsure about what was coming next. Domino’s story is different — for him, so much of this is simply brand new. New smells. New sights. New freedom. New opportunities to just *be a dog*.

And sometimes growth looks less like perfect obedience and more like joyful exploration. 💜

As long as we keep experiences safe, positive, and supportive, even the chaotic moments matter. Confidence builds. Curiosity grows. Resilience develops. Learning doesn’t only happen during structured training sessions — it happens during play, movement, exploration, and shared experiences too.

And after the silliness? The boys settled beautifully. They practiced functional skills, checked in, decompressed, and enjoyed the rest of their adventure together. 🐕🌲

There’s a time for focus.
There’s a time for calm.
And there should absolutely be time for joy, play, and a little harmless chaos too.

Because learning should feel good. ✨

Domino is currently available for adoption through ADOPT Pet Shelter — and we think he’d make an incredible adventure buddy for a very lucky human. 💚

And if you’ve been following Robin’s journey, this is exactly why we’re participating in the Making Strides for Strays event and fundraising for ADOPT through our “Running for Robin” campaign. Dogs like Robin — dogs who need a little extra support, patience, understanding, and compassion — deserve organizations willing to stand beside them until the right home comes along.

🌟 We’re so excited to be part of this year’s Makin’ Strides for Strays event with our friends at A.D.O.P.T. Pet Shelter! 🌟

Join us on Sunday, June 7th at Phillips Park in Aurora for a day full of adoptable pets, local vendors, music, food trucks, and community — all supporting animals in need. 🐾💜

This event is especially meaningful to us because we’re also participating in our Running for Robin fundraiser. Robin is living proof of what happens when shelters are willing to go the extra mile for dogs who need a little more support, a little more patience, and a lot more compassion. ADOPT believed in him every step of the way — and now we want to give back to help them continue doing that for so many other animals. 🐶✨

If you’d like to support our fundraiser, donations can be made here:

We hope to see you there! Stop by our booth, say hi, and celebrate the incredible work being done for animals in our community. 💕🐾

10/10. Excellent splashing opportunities. Excellent sniffing. Excellent adventure buddy potential. 🌿🐾

This handsome guy had an absolute BLAST exploring the trails, playing in the creek, and living his very best “water dog” life with Robin this weekend. 💚

Domino is the kind of dog who makes every outing more fun. He’s curious, social, affectionate, and always ready for the next adventure — whether that’s hiking trails, exploring new places, or just hanging out with his people. 🥹

And honestly? Watching him discover the creek may have been the highlight of our day. 😂💦

Domino is currently looking for his forever home through ADOPT Pet Shelter and we truly cannot believe this sweet boy is still waiting. If you’re looking for an active best friend to share your adventures with, Domino might just be your guy. 🐶✨
