This fall, dry conditions and low rainfall mean West Virginia’s fire season could be a dangerous one without the public’s help, according to Mark Lambert, director of WVU Extension Fire Service. 🔥

During fire season from Oct. 1 through Dec. 31, residents are required to limit outdoor burning to between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m. Daytime burning is prohibited. If you must burn anything, make sure you are there with it the whole time and that you have an adequate water supply to drown the fire at the end.

Burning leaves in your backyard can easily get out of control and do significant damage, so being diligent about following burning guidelines in imperative. 🍂
