I received a message from a friend with an SOS to see if I had room to take in another goat. She's the first veterinarian I worked for and I have a ton of respect for her. I, of course, said yes. I don't like odd numbers and have 7 currently so adding one more was good for my numbers and was a huge help to this goat who needed somewhere to go. He came with the name Dutch. His ranch name is Butch (since it sounds similar) to go with the B themes. He's an absolute doll and the girls are all smitten by him. Even Peanut Butter rubbed up against him. He's going to fit in here very well!

I walked out the door to screeching this morning. I looked up and saw these beautiful birds talking to each other in my big mesquite tree. They sure are a sight to see. As you can see, they moved it along when they saw me but not before I was able to snap a few photos of them in flight.

The big man and I are not vibing currently! He thinks he's the baddest rooster around and that I don't call the shots around here. We are in the midst of a lesson to remind him not to bite/spur the hand that feeds him. I now carry a stick when I go in there to fend him off after he caught me unexpectedly from behind one morning. Today was a better day. He only ran at me once and all I had to do was point the stick at him and he backed off. Dynamics are funny. He really is gorgeous but I am not getting beat by a rooster. lol

My little hobby ranch is full of life this morning and so am I. It is my weekend. While I love my job, I love my little ranch too. This big Gila Monster had not been seen since last year. I am very happy that he’s back today. He did not pay me any mind this morning and let me get closer than usual. I know it’s not true and I am just anthropomorphizing him but it’s almost like I was familiar to him too and he didn’t mind my presence. 🧡

The chickens wouldn’t venture much beyond the coop for the first couple of days. Today when I released them, they all ran completely to the opposite side where I was feeding the goats. I love seeing them all figure it out and they seem pretty content with their new life. ❤️

I loved being able to spend time in my happy place today. I even got a bonus of 3 fresh eggs!

I absolutely cannot tell you how wonderful it is to have the sounds of chickens back in my yard. The kiddo and I had to go out and shore up a couple of areas that weren’t “chicken proof” on the new fence and then we released my new loves. I am a very happy lady today! ❤️ 🐓

I guess this is a good sign that the guys will be back today! So close to containment!! Final piece will be electrifying the fence. Video in comments to show these cuties. You can see Buoy pushing his weight against the fence. That’s how it got destroyed in the first place. 🤣
