I tracked every dollar I spent on my dog for 3 months.

The part that surprised me — grooming was the easiest to cut. Switched to brushing at home and saved ~$400/year.
The part nobody warns you about — vet costs don't hit monthly. They hit $180 on a random Tuesday for an ear infection. Budget $40/month into a "vet fund" even when nothing's wrong.
