We'd like to announce that our friends at Midtown Parks, the 501(c)(3) arm of Midtown Association, is once again participating in our region’s annual fundraiser for area nonprofits, Big Day of Giving (BDOG). Please support on the day of if you can, donations start at as little as $15 and will help Midtown Parks a chance to win one of several prizes!

Midtown Parks aims to increase health and community engagement by investing in Midtown parks: Fremont Park, Marshall Park, Muir Park, Sutter’s Fort, Truitt Bark Park and Winn Park. Having activated green spaces in urban settings are crucial to the health and well-being of residents and visitors and Midtown Parks is committed to making investments that bring that to reality for parks in Midtown.

Thus far investments made by Midtown Parks have included the all-weather umbrellas at the Bark Park, free wellness and fitness classes through Fresh Air: Fremont Park and Workout at Winn, a sponsorship to launch Wednesdays at Winn evening market, and more!

You can support this work by making a donation to Midtown Parks at bigdayofgiving.org/midtownparks. Donations start at as little as $15. Additionally, Sutter District restaurants will be matching the first $500 in donations made to Midtown Parks. Meaning that if you make a $25 donation, your donation will be matched dollar for dollar, making your donation $50 total!

Visit the Midtown Parks profile here starting April 22nd for “Early Giving” to make your donation or you can wait till May 6th to be a part of the live action, giving Midtown Parks a chance to win one of several prizes.

The time has arrived! After much ado about concrete strength and soil conditions, we are clear to install the “All Weather” Dog Park Umbrellas beginning on Thursday, December 19th. During installation, one dog park will be closed at a time, and we will be placing signs at the park, as well as adding info to social media. The schedule is to begin at the small dog park for two days on December 19th and 20th and finish installation at the large dog park on December 23rd and 24th. Special thanks to CADA, Sutter Health, the City of Sacramento, Quadriga Design and Tricorp Group who all helped make this project possible.

Truitt Bark Park will temporarily be closed for two days next week, Tuesday and Wednesday 10/22 and 10/23, as construction work begins for the installation of new shade structures. The Bark Park is set to re-open Thursday, 10/24.

The seven shade structures are set to be installed in November. These will be exciting additions to the park to provide much needed shade for visitors and their pets!

Two more days until the park cleanup! Join us on Saturday (6/1) at 9am to help refill bark and do some light weeding in the small dog park. It takes a village so all volunteers are welcome. Please bring some work gloves if possible.
