How did I become Carrie About Cats? Really I think I have always been! Professionally it began with volunteering with Front street and Bradshaw shelters and then Lapcats Rescue in California 8 years ago. In Soflo it started the day before Hurricane Irma arrived when I marched into Broward shelter and found it eerily empty. I asked what I could do and they sent me home with the last kittens in the

building, a litter of sick babies. Those kittens, Irmie, Harvey, Andrew, and Jose had no idea how lucky they were! We had a good time riding out the storm in my bathroom. Next, I took in Ophelia, a very sickly kitten with ringworm who I held on my lap for days just to make sure she survived. I had to find her a home with people I knew and trusted rather than send her back to the shelter. I wanted more control over who got my kiddos, so I joined Good Karma Pet Rescue. I love Good Karma! With their support I get to take care of orphans, helping them grow strong, and then assist in their adoption. I can’t save them all, but I can do something! And this is what I’m good at. So, while I recover from my previous career of being a social worker I may as well do professionally what I love to do personally. Your support helps me rescue lots of abandoned kittens and to cover my own expenses. So, thank YOU for helping save babies!

Here's a statistic that's getting people talking about pets 👀

According to a Harris Poll of more than 2,000 U.S. adults, 40% of respondents said they would choose having pets over having children if they had to choose. Among Gen Z and millennials, more than half said they have considered building a life centered around pets instead of children.

The survey also found that many pet owners are making financial and lifestyle sacrifices for their animals, with younger generations especially likely to spend more on pet care, skip personal expenses or even turn down social plans to prioritize time with their pets.

We caught the sisters! It took a while and so now they’re about three weeks behind their brothers, but they’re here now and they’re safe and they don’t know it yet, but they’re gonna have so much fun here.

When I pick them up, they tremble, but after a little bit of petting, they purr. They’re still not sure about this crazy lady and her bathroom with a cat tree in it, but they’re about to get a taste of the good life.

The funny part is that their brother is literally did not know they were looking at different black cats. They honestly just walked past them like nothing. So funny! I guess cats are more visual than we think. Literally no reaction.

OG Anunoby is using his championship spotlight to help some local cats get noticed.

Fresh off helping lead the New York Knicks to an NBA title, Anunoby has partnered with Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC), Royal Canin, and VCA Animal Hospitals to spotlight five adoptable shelter cats. The campaign, called "OG's Starting Five," highlights cats currently waiting for homes in New York City's largest shelter system.

To encourage adoptions, the campaign is offering a year of free cat food and veterinary care for adopters. Royal Canin is also donating $300,000 worth of pet food to animal shelters across the U.S. Animal advocates hope the effort will help more shelter cats find loving families.
