Many of our clients and my personal friends and peers have been asking me about the situation. One, because I’m an animal advocate but I think mainly because, although I live in Sacramento, I’m from Fortuna where the rescue is located and I have known and even supported the rescue and the owner for over 30 years!
To say the allegations of Animal abuse and fraud caught me by surprise is an understatement! For that reason alone, I have kept any comments or questions to myself until I could wrap my head around the situation and of course I needed concrete proof not just allegations to make my heart believe what my head was telling it! I had just not been able to make my heart understand how somebody could do this, especially someone I have known for years! Well, as many know, the proof was dug up by multiple local and state government organizations, including the FBI! I was absolutely physically sickened and heartbroken when I saw how many dogs were killed, buried and are still missing from the “rescue” that our entire town and county relied on and supported!
With that said I’m not going to get into all the details but I will post a few great links and pages that will keep you up-to-date on the newest information. I have seen many people from out of town jumping in And posting inaccurate information so it’s truly best to follow the three ladies that were so very crucial in getting this investigation started along with the local news outlets and Humboldt County sheriffs department. Hopefully by following some of these groups and organizations, it will answer some of the questions that our entire animal community is looking for.

I of course, will continue to follow this investigation and will update when progress has been made. At this point there are still animals at the rescue that need to be adopted. It is all about the animals at this point, and I do appreciate everyone’s concern, yes this has been a horrible development for our community and the entire animal advocate and rescue community.
