We cannot adopt our way out of the cat overpopulation crisis. And I’m sorry that we cannot take in every cat.

Truthfully, there simply are not enough homes for every community cat. While some outdoor cats are friendly, that doesn’t automatically mean they should be removed from where they’re living. First, always check for an owner by looking for identification, scanning for a microchip, and asking nearby neighbors‼️

If a cat truly has no owner, the answer isn’t always to bring it inside. Rescue organizations and shelters are already overwhelmed, and removing every friendly community cat isn’t sustainable. I know we all WANT cats safely indoors, but it’s just not doable.

Instead, let’s focus on what makes the biggest long-term impact: Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR). Spay or neuter the cats, vaccinate them, return them to their familiar territory. Then provide food, water, and shelter as part of a managed colony. We will HELP any managed colony🤩

I’ve decided we need to focus on that more. That’s what our Colony Care Packages will help with.

Friendly kittens and truly adoptable cats should absolutely be given the opportunity to find loving homes whenever possible. But it’s NOT always possible.

For the vast majority of healthy community cats, TNR is what stops the cycle. Every cat that’s fixed is one less cat contributing to the thousands of kittens born each year. In time, we CAN solve this problem.

But if we want to solve the overpopulation crisis, we have to prevent more cats from being born. We can not just keep trying to find homes. We have to realize the problem is huge. It’s overwhelming. And we can’t take in everyone. I wish we could, truly💔

So spay/neuter all cats. It doesn’t matter if it’s “not your cat.” It is a community cat. The ferals, the friendlies, the strays, whatever you call them. It’s all of our responsibility.

Not ours. Not animal control. Not the government. Not your neighbors. Not a rescues. Not a TNR group. Not the state. Not the humane society. Not the vet.

All. Of. Us.

We all have to help. Do what you can, even if it means getting up at 3am! Even if it means asking your HOA to rally up a team. Even if it’s making a GoFundMe.

Here’s some options, and I hope this helps🫶🏼
