A local ‘uh-oh’! Did you know?

To keep hay from catching fire, manage moisture by baling dry (under 20%), cure it well in the field, store it off the ground with air circulation, cover it from rain, and monitor bale temperatures daily (especially within 6 weeks of baling), taking action if it nears 130°F-175°F to prevent spontaneous combustion, which is a bacterial process where heat builds up and creates flammable gases.

Anyone one concerned about EVH-1 outbreak please reach out with any questions. Dr. Butterworth sat through a discussion with multiple DVMs across the country and feels up to date on the latest info. Companion horses that remain on their own farm seem to be low risk - if you have any questions about your horse that shows/travels please contact us via text or call at (828) 447-9600. 🐴

Can you believe we can see this tiny little heart beating in a 30-day-old horse fetus? The baby is the size of a cherry tomato, and the glimpse of shimmering inside the tomato is the heart! It's always awesome to see!
