🚨 URGENT: FINAL HOURS! We Need $1,700 TODAY to Protect Our Herd! 🐴
Friends, this is it—our final deadline!

Thank you! Because of your initial support, we've raised $300, but we have a crucial $1,700 gap to close by midnight to secure our sanctuary.

As you know, we rarely ask, but we need the full $2,000 TODAY to proceed with two critical goals:

Safety First: We must fund the urgent roofing repairs and paddock fencing upgrades before the bad weather hits. These are non-negotiable for the long-term safety and comfort of our rescues.

Restore Stability: We need to fully replenish the reserves spent on past emergencies (like Rudy's surgery) to stay prepared without compromising daily care.

Your donation right now is a direct investment in the safety of every animal at Serenity Saviors!

Please let your heart guide you to help us hit this goal!

Hi Friends! 🐴

As you know, Serenity Saviors is highly self-sufficient. We are rarely in a position of needing to ask for community donations to meet our daily operational costs, thanks to our therapy revenue, grants, and dedicated year-round support.

💛However, we are asking for your help now. First, Thank you for your ongoing support! We, and the equines in our care, appreciate what you have done from our hearts to our hooves!

🩷Recently, we have experienced exceptional, high-cost veterinary expenses that have required us to tap into funds reserved for upcoming projects.

💜We need to raise $2,000 by this Friday to achieve two vital goals:

💚Fund Essential Upgrades: Before the harsh weather sets in, we need to secure the funds to complete necessary safety and comfort projects, specifically improving the roofing and making urgent fencing repairs to our paddocks. Delaying these crucial maintenance upgrades is no longer an option.

🩵Replenish Reserves: We need to restore our operating reserves, ensuring we are prepared for the next unexpected emergency without sacrificing the daily needs of the herd. Your donation today is a direct investment in the long-term security and quality of life at Serenity Saviors.

You are helping us maintain the high standard of care we are known for. Please let your heart guide you to contribute to this essential effort.

Urgent Update: Charlie Needs You Now! 💔

We wanted to share a sweet moment of Charlie with you. This is him now—totally secure, belly up, and finally relaxing in his new bed. Watching him finally rest like this after everything he went through just hits you right in the heart.

He’s our shadow that always follows us around. He just needs to know that we're close by. He doesn't beg for treats; he just takes them so gently, like every tiny kindness is a gift. He has already given us so much more than we've given him.

♥️Two Critical Financial Needs This Week:

The good news is that Charlie passed his vet evaluation and is safe for surgery! But unfortunately, he’s in pain. He broke a toenail off down in the toe, and now his paw is swollen and he isn't putting any weight on it. This is very urgent, and we have the vet visit scheduled for Monday to treat the infection and pain immediately.

Here is what we need to cover right now:
❣️MONDAY URGENT VISIT (Immediate Need, cost to be determined): This is for his swollen, painful paw. This cost is completely separate from his planned surgery.

🩵SENIOR SURGERY PROTOCOL (Need by Wednesday): We still need $140 to fully cover his neuter procedure and the removal of those largest, suspicious growths while he's under.

You all helped us raise $170 of the $310 total, which is amazing! We need your help to tackle these two costs so Charlie can be out of pain and officially part of the Serenity family.

Please, if Charlie's story moved you, can you spare a little bit to help us stop his pain right now, and secure his happy, healthy future?

You can find the donation links pinned in the first comment below! Thank you for every share and every dollar!

The Quiet Gift of Charlie ❤️

Charlie is settling in, and he carries the quiet grace of a dog who's waited too long to be loved. We thought a dog who endured so much neglect might be anxious or demanding, but instead, he just breathes gratitude.

He’s so thankful for every little thing we do. He just follows me from room to room, always checking to make sure we haven’t left without him. I think he just needs to be close, to know we’re still here.

At night, this is especially sweet. He has his brand new, soft bed, but he pushes it right up against the edge of our bed and sleeps there. It’s a quiet, reassuring presence beside us all night. It’s a silent conversation every evening: "Thank you for letting me stay." 🥺

He has so many little habits that just melt my heart. He takes a treat so kindly, his old lips barely brush your fingers, like he’s thanking you for every single crumb. He walks on the leash wonderfully, always right by your side. It’s like he understands the privilege of a simple walk in the sun.
But the moment that really got us was the connection with our son, Blake.

We were all having dinner, and Charlie—who was starved and fought so hard for freedom—just walked over, sighed, and gently laid his head on Blake’s leg. He wasn't begging for food, he was just resting—finally safe enough to truly trust. 🧒🐶

It's not just that we rescued Charlie. It’s that he is quietly restoring a piece of joy and trust within our family, too. Sometimes, the most perfect dog is the one who was once the most forgotten.

Help Us Complete Charlie's Journey 🏡

We are so thankful by the support so far! We raised $50, but still need $260 to cover his required pre-neuter bloodwork, the procedure itself, and his final adoption.

Please help us make this gentle soul officially ours. Every bit helps us secure Charlie's happy ending and ensures he never has to worry about being hungry or confined again.

You can find the donation links pinned in the first comment below! Thank you for loving this old boy. 🙏

Thanks to your generosity, Charlie has $50 toward his forever-home fund. Let's keep the love coming!

Here is Charlie's story

Welcome home, Charlie! 🩵

During Sunday brunch today, I saw a post on Facebook shared by my amazing friend Andrea Nance and honestly, the first picture (below) of this senior boy BROKE me. He looked devastatingly sad, sitting in a shelter just 45 minutes away, and my heart just knew he belonged with us. I burst into tears, checked in with Allen, and told the kids, “We’re going to meet a "special dog"”

We drove out there, and when I walked in, the two ladies at the desk were so kind. When I said I was specifically there to "adopt my new best friend", they directed me to the dog and cat kennels. Then, when I said I was there for one special, senior dog "Banjo", the second lady’s face lit up, she was so excited!

She told me he was in the first kennel to the left. He had already been there ten days and had completely shut down, just lying there quietly while all the other dogs barked. He started shaking as I came close. But I went back out, got a leash, and came back. When he realized someone was actually coming back for HIM, he stood up, and a tiny bit of hope flickered in his eyes.

Phoebe and I let him play in their play yard and then in the lobby on a leash. He was gentle with every cat and dog—a true gentleman. When they asked if I was going to adopt him, I said yes as my throat closed with emotion, and all of us cried on the spot. Seriously, the tears were contagious!

As I signed the paperwork, they mentioned a chip. The shelter had been calling him Banjo, but his real name was Charlie. So I knelt down and asked him, "Is your name Charlie?"

Y'all... it was like a light switch came on. He instantly lit up, and he started licking my face with pure joy. That’s the moment he sealed the deal on stealing our hearts.

Charlie is 10+, with some lumps & bumps, skin issues, missing fur, needs weight, and worn-down teeth, but he has great energy. He is on medication for kennel cough so we are fostering him until his health issues are (hopefully) take care of. He will see the vet for a neutering evaluation and overall health exam.

Our farm dogs have always lived long, incredible lives, and with the right care, we hope Charlie will too.

He has a new pack, a new life, and a whole new adventure ahead.

Welcome home, sweet Charlie! 🩵

Sometimes it isn't a horse or donkey who needs saved...sometimes it is a "very senior" dog...

🧼 Charlie's First Bath 🛁

Let me be the first to say, I stunk. I smelled of neglect, of stale urine, and of desperation. I smelled like the cage I had tried to chew my way out of for months, wearing my front teeth down to the gums until I finally tasted freedom. Even my canines.

The vet said yesterday that I must have been confined for a long time, maybe both on a chain and a cage. Not only am I still so skinny and hungry, but I wore my fur off from trying to escape, rubbing and rubbing until I gave myself big, chafed lumps. Half of my tail has no hair, and I literally have no hair where a collar was for far too long. I finally succeeded. Thank G-d!

A stranger found me, took me to the shelter, and 10 days later, my saviors came. The little girl was the first to see me. She was so quiet and gentle. Then came the lady—my lady. I was a wreck, but she just looked at my worn teeth, my bony ribs, and my bald patches, sat right there on the cold concrete, and started to cry without shame. It was the sound of a mama's heart breaking for me.

Tonight, I got my first bath. I honestly don't remember the last time I had one. My favorite person was massaging the skin where I’d rubbed my fur off, and washing the big lumps on my legs. She was so gentle it felt like all of the loneliness was being washed down the drain. All I could do was lean into her, and listen to the soft singing of the little girl nearby.

As her hands gently rinsed the last of the grime, all the tension left my old bones. I leaned into her, felt her heartbeat, and nearly fell asleep right there in the warm water. She smelled of kindness, freedom, and love. ❤️

Charlie is finally free of his confinement, but he needs one more lift to make this house his forever-home. His journey has just begun, and now it’s our turn to step up. We're ready to sign the adoption papers, but he needs a few crucial steps completed first.

We need to raise just $310 to finalize Charlie's adoption and care:

$150: Pre-neuter bloodwork and checkup (ensuring his old body is ready!)
$115: His long-overdue neuter procedure.
$45: The final adoption fee to officially make him ours.

Every dollar brings us closer to giving this good boy the comfort and love he deserves for the rest of his days. Can you chip in and help complete Charlie's journey home?
