🎆 Fireworks are fun for us — but frightening for some pets.

Now’s the time to prepare. Many dogs and cats experience noise aversion, which can lead to anxiety, pacing, hiding, or even escaping.

👩‍⚕️ Veterinarians can help with:
✔️ Medication and calming strategies
✔️ Behavior-based support
✔️ Safe space planning

📋 AAHA’s Behavior and Senior Care Guidelines both offer insights into managing noise aversion — especially in pets who may be more vulnerable.

👉 Call your vet today if your pet needs help before the fireworks begin!

⚠️ Did you know? Many common household medications can be toxic to pets—and ibuprofen is at the top of the list.

Even small amounts can lead to stomach ulcers or kidney failure in dogs and cats. Keep your pets safe with these tips:

✅ Keep all medications both for humans and pets away from your animals.

✅ Never leave pills OR pill bottles sitting on the counter or in a place that a pet can reach them.

✅ If you accidentally drop a pill when taking it out of the bottle, quickly pick it up so you know your pet won't find and eat it.

✅ Never give a medication to your pet without consulting a veterinarian first.

If you suspect your pet has consumed a human medication or a medication meant for another pet in your household, immediately contact us at 316-262-5321. You can also connect with the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435.

🌞🔥 HEAT ADVISORY IN CLARKSVILLE – PROTECT YOUR PETS! 🔥🌞

Temps are soaring this week, and our furry friends feel it even more than we do. Here’s how to help your pets beat the heat and stay safe:

🐾 Skip the Walks on Hot Pavement – If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws! Stick to early morning or late evening walks, or just play indoors.

🏠 Keep Them Inside, in the A/C – The safest place for pets during extreme heat is inside your home with the air conditioning running. Fans alone aren’t enough!

💧 Plenty of Cool, Fresh Water – Always have water available, and add a few ice cubes for extra chill.

🌊 Let Them Swim or Splash Safely – A dip in the kiddie pool or supervised swim time is a fun way to cool off.

⚠️ Brachycephalic Breeds (like Bulldogs, Pugs, and Shih Tzus) are at much higher risk for heatstroke. Even short time outdoors can be dangerous for them!

🐕‍🦺 NEVER leave pets in parked cars, even with the windows cracked. Temps can become deadly in minutes.

Know the signs of heatstroke: excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting, or collapse. If you suspect heatstroke, seek emergency veterinary care immediately.

Let’s keep tails wagging safely this summer! 💙☀️🐶🐱
