What’s the difference between Llamas vs Alpacas?

This is a common question we hear (and happy to answer).

Alpacas and Llamas are completely different animals.

Llamas have:
- long banana-shaped ears
- longer faces
- weigh over 400 lbs
- stand much taller than alpacas
- can carry a pack
- are very protective of their herd/flock, and not afraid to defend them.

Alpacas have:
- shorter ears
- blunt faces,
- weigh an avg of 150 lbs,
- have luxuriously soft fleece,
- are gentle & timid,
- and amble along like the world is made of gumdrops.
