Today marks 4 years without you, 4 years waking up reliving one of the worst days of my life. It shatters my heart to know the last thing you felt was fear. Reactivity isn’t a joke, your pets life depends on what you do to keep them out of situations where they feel they need to react and to help them work through those feelings to become a dog that you can take out in the community without the fear of them reacting. Koda was completely unlucky. No matter what we did to keep him in the house away from strangers, even locked him up while people were in his own home to protect him and others from what he could do. He wasn’t aggressive he was fear reactive. I let him down. I couldn’t protect him not even from himself. I was completely uneducated at the time. Koda’s Legacy was created to EVENTUALLY one day be able to pull reactive dogs from shelters to try to rehabilitate and save them from being put down in the shelter for their reactivity. As well as a training facility for other families like mine who feel they have no other choice but to put their pups down simply due to the fact they have no clue how to handle and prevent reactivity. I let Koda down and I promised him I will never let down another pup that walks in my path.🩵If only he was here to see it.

In 8 days will be 4 years without your beautiful face, your deep howl at the back door, your soft fuzzy fluffy coat and your loving goofy soul. I hope you know I’m spreading awareness and helping doggies just like you. Your death will not be for nothing and I promise to try my hardest to save the ones that are struggling. I’ve learned so much about reactivity that I wish I would’ve known while you were walking this earth. So many things would have been different.💕
