Diamond Update:
It has been 10 days since Diamond was struck in the head 6 times by her owner's son. The Dallas County Attorney's office refuses to take on the case and the Adel Police Dept has taken a hard stance on their lack on intervention. I have requested an explanation so we can understand their position, but an explanation has not been provided. PETA also looked into this matter for us and concluded that Iowa law doesn't protect animals such as Diamond. Iowa law does not specifically state that the health of the animal includes it's mental state, so that fact that Diamond was clearly beaten down emotionally after the physical abuse ended simply doesn't matter. Additionally, a qualified person, such as a veterinarian, was not afforded the opportunity to examine Diamond for injuries not apparent to the average person/police officer, such as bruising, inner ear issues, fractured jaw, etc. Instead, a completely unqualified person/police officer, determined Diamond was not injured, so there is no case. There is no case law we could rely on with similar circumstances because the Dallas County Attorney has not taken on cases like this.
SO, if you are as upset about this as I am, let's make a change! USE YOUR VOTE to make that change!! Let's not have more of the same. THIS IS OUR CHANCE to MAKE A CHANGE!!!!
*We need a major change in the Dallas County Attorney's Office. We certainly don't need more of the same! Find out who is playing fair and who isn't. Just check out their social media pages.
*Most people don't realize how much the other offices matter to situations such as this. In addition to Senators and House Representatives, we vote on the offices of County Auditor, Board of Supervisors, Judges, and of course County Sheriff matter all play a part! PLEASE know WHO you are voting for. Don't just pick someone because you saw more of their signs. They just might have taken their opponent's signs down (it happened!). EDUCATE YOURSELF! Learn how these judges ruled on cases that matter to you. Learn how the people on the Board of Supervisors have been running the Sheriff's department. Maybe the Sheriff wants to do one thing but the Board of Supervisors won't let him??? Why there only been 3 people on such an important Board for so long, for such a quickly growing county? Are those people even in touch with the growth of our community? Why haven't they planned for the influx on animals with the enormous increase of people? We need to know these things and vote accordingly! Please DO NOT just check boxes on the ballot. There is so much at stake for the animals!! REMEMBER Diamond when you vote!!!
