Today, we put on our very first home show. We offered two divisions and three different classes. A walk and a walk/trot division. We offered a timed obstacle course, poles/ cross rail class, and a pattern class (much like a low level dressage test). The rules and the grading were simple. Execute each element to the best of your ability using the tools that you’ve learned in your Lessons. The objective was to be able to execute the fundamentals and basics of riding. Students were challenged with executing the extended walk, collected walk, 20 m circles, leg yields, haults, 90° returns, etc. through out the three different style classes. Basically, can you communicate with your Horse? I couldn’t be more proud of all the students who came and demonstrated what it means to be an effective rider, to have great sportsmanship, to be helpful, and most of all to have fun. Here’s just a few pictures Ive received from the parents. A special thanks to my best friend Ashley Chapman and my brother Thomas Soares for spending their Saturday morning helping us execute this. An outstanding job by our very own Allie Montgomery for running a tight ship in the cross ties and ensuring all riders safety. And to Ari, who insured the timeliness of all students getting to, and from the three different arenas we ran today. Also a thank you to the Hollingshead family for their lunch sponsorship! And everyone else who made this day possible. And the biggest heartfelt thank you to the Lesson Horses! Each horse carried at least three riders today and helped them execute beautiful classes! I really do have the best crew.
Looking forward to the next one!
