This week, ACCESS has been proudly celebrating CSR Week by recognizing the incredible Client Service Representatives who keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

Throughout the week, we’ve been celebrating our CSRs and teams with vendor-sponsored meals, fun gifts, recognition, and plenty of sweets — a small way to say thank you for the big impact they make every day.

We appreciate the dedication, teamwork, and heart our CSRs bring to ACCESS. 💙

Thanks to our vendors!

Easter is a great time to slow down, enjoy good food, and spend time with family and friends – but it can also bring a few unexpected risks for pets.

Chocolate eggs, candy, leftovers, and other Easter treats may be part of the fun for us, but some of them can be dangerous for dogs and cats. Chocolate, raisins, xylitol, cooked bones, and rich or fatty foods are just a few of the things that can quickly turn a festive weekend into a trip to the vet.

A little extra care goes a long way. Keeping treats out of reach, asking guests not to feed pets from the table, and keeping an eye on curious noses can help everyone enjoy a safer Easter.

And if your pet does get into something they shouldn’t, it’s always better to act quickly. Just in case, we're open 24/7 this Easter weekend for Pet Emergencies.

Wishing you and your pets a safe, happy Easter filled with all the good things – and none of the emergency visits.

Today, on World Autism Awareness Day, we’re proud to show our support for autistic individuals, their families, and the wider community. The ribbon featured here, with its colorful puzzle-piece design, is a widely recognized symbol of autism awareness and is meant to reflect the diversity and individuality of those on the autism spectrum.

It serves as a reminder of the importance of understanding, acceptance, and inclusion. From all of us at ACCESS Specialty Animal Hospital – Palm Beach County, we stand with those whose lives are touched by autism today and every day. 💙

Moses is going home! ❤️🏠🐾

Little Moses is a Chihuahua who recently spent time in our ICU receiving treatment for pancreatitis. Hospital stays can be scary for pets and families, but Moses’ pet parent, Heather, says her experience was exceptional from start to finish.

Heather shared how much it meant to feel trust and confidence in the doctors, who worked collaboratively on Moses’ treatment plan and kept her informed every step of the way. Our veterinary technicians also went the extra mile to make Moses comfortable — moving him from a small dog care cage to a larger space so Heather could sit with him and comfort him during visiting hours. That simple act meant the world to her. 🌎💕

Now Moses is heading home, greeted by Heather and his “brother from another mother,” and ready to continue his recovery surrounded by love.

Our teams care deeply about every patient, and we’re proud to support pet owners through uncertain times with compassion, collaboration, and care. 🥰

Health Advisory for Dog Owners: Keep Pets Away from Frozen Iguanas

Cold snaps in Florida have led to thousands of iguana fatalities. Our critical care specialists are advising pet owners to stay away from frozen or dead iguanas.

Dogs that mouth, lick, or ingest dead or dying iguanas are at risk of botulism toxicity which may cause symptoms including weakness, paralysis, and breathing difficulties within hours to days after exposure. Recent cases have been reported in Palm Beach County, so please stay vigilant.

Prevention tips:
• Keep dogs leashed and supervised outdoors
• Avoid areas where iguanas may have fallen
• Do not allow pets to investigate wildlife carcasses

Temperatures are expected to dip early next week — stay alert and keep your pets safe! Our emergency team is here if you need us.

Our Internal Medicine team is excited to engage with our referring veterinary partners next week for a continuing education lecture in Fort Lauderdale on the latest advances in urology.

We're grateful to be part of a veterinary community that prioritizes learning, collaboration, and better outcomes for our patients.

Pets facing complex urologic conditions benefit from expanded treatment options when veterinarians remain current with evolving diagnostics and therapies.

If you're a veterinarian and want to attend this RACE-certified lecture, RSVP by emailing Maria at the Broward County VMA: [email protected]

Valentine’s Chocolates = Paws Off! 🐾

Chocolate can be toxic to pets, and certain flowers can be harmful to cats. It's best to keep your Valentine's bouquets out of reach. Flowers such as lilies, tulips, peonies, and others are toxic to cats. 🌷 👎 😼

If you’re worried your pet ingested chocolate or something else that is unsafe, we’re here 24/7 if you need us.

A little prevention goes a long way in keeping tails wagging this Valentine’s Day.

Are edibles edible?

For humans - yes. For pets… that’s a hard no. If your dog or cat gets into your stash, seek immediate medical attention.

Edibles are especially dangerous for pets—often more than the ma*****na plant itself.

They typically contain higher levels of THC and are made with ingredients like chocolate, butter, or artificial sweeteners (xylitol), all of which are toxic to cats and dogs.

And, because edibles are designed to taste good, pets tend to eat more than they should, leading to stronger, longer-lasting, and sometimes irreversible effects.

For pets, exposure can look like disorientation, trouble walking, vomiting, extreme lethargy, and in some cases, more serious complications.

The good news? At ACCESS, our emergency, critical care, and internal medicine teams are experienced in recognizing and treating ma*****na exposure, helping pets recover safely and comfortably.

If your pet is acting “not quite themselves” and you’re worried about possible exposure, we’re here when you need us.
