Sometimes when it feels like your donkey isn’t listening, the bigger question is WHY.

That’s the part of donkey training I love digging into.

Here at Famous Shamus Farm, we also host my Training Wild B***os 3-Day Donkey Clinics.

We don’t just work on getting the donkey to complete an obstacle or perform an exercise. We work on helping YOU understand what your donkey is telling you and how to communicate more clearly when things aren’t going quite the way you planned.

I, Training Wild B***os, originally added a second September clinic because my September 11–13 clinic had filled.

Now, due to a cancellation, I have availability in BOTH clinics:

📅 September 5–7, 2026 — Labor Day Weekend
📅 September 11–13, 2026 — TWO SPOTS JUST OPENED
📍 Roundup, Montana

These are 3-day working donkey clinics designed specifically for donkeys and the unique challenges and opportunities they present.

You do NOT need a finished donkey to attend.

Some participants come wanting to improve basic groundwork and communication. Others are working toward obstacles, packing, saddling, or riding.

🐴 MORNINGS | 8:00–11:00
Groundwork, communication, confidence, leading, feet, accepting tack, and foundational skills.

🐴 AFTERNOONS | 12:00–3:00
Obstacles, packing, advanced groundwork, and riding for donkeys that are ready.

The goal is not for everyone to do the same thing.

Bring the donkey you have, and we’ll build from there.

💲 $400 for the 3-day clinic
A $200 non-refundable deposit reserves your spot.

🏕 Free camping on the property
🚐 Camper rentals available — $75/night
Hot & cold water, full kitchen, bathroom and shower
(No air conditioning)

🐴 Stalls — $10 per night per animal

The First Touch: How to Start Gentling a Wild Donkey

After last weekend’s adoption event, all 14 of our available wild b***os found homes. That means a lot of new owners are beginning the gentling journey—and one of the biggest questions is:

What should that very first touch look like?

Tonight, Dan and I will talk about:
• Why the first touch is about communication, not just touching
• How and why we use a lunge whip during early gentling
• What we’re watching for before we ever reach toward a donkey
• Common mistakes that can make the process harder
• How patience and timing build confidence

🫏 What an incredible day yesterday!

🫏 Today’s the Day!

Our Wild B***o Adoption Event starts this morning at Famous Shamus Farm in Roundup, Montana, and we’d love to meet you!

We have 14 wild b***os available for adoption, including:

• 5 one-year-old jennies
• 8 untouched geldings
• 1 gelding that has graduated the BLM Partnership Program and is already gentled

Our b***os range in age from 1 to 24 years old, and each one has their own unique personality and potential.

Whether you’re seriously considering adoption or simply curious about wild b***os, you’re welcome to stop by, meet the b***os, and ask questions.

I’ll also be teaching free clinics today and tomorrow from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM, where I’ll be sharing my approach to building trust and working with wild b***os.

Fourteen b***os are hoping this weekend changes everything. 🫏🤍

We have five one-year-old jennies and nine geldings, ages one to 24, available at our adoption event July 25–26. One gelding has completed the Partnership Program, while the others are untouched and waiting for someone willing to begin their journey with them.
