I’m going to say this respectfully but firmly,
PLEASE STOP BUYING DOODLES!

There is NO SUCH THING as a truly professional/ethical breeder that would EVER participate in the mixed dog market. This is ever and only “breeding for profit”, which is NOT a good enough reason to breed any dog.

Don’t fall for the R2D2…. h1N1… whatever nonsense they label these dogs as to try to make them sound legitimate. They’re not.
None of them. No - not even those with the perfect websites and the raving referrals.

Anyone banking on the doodle phenomenon is not a true dog advocate and i would never encourage you give them your money. The prices are steep, and the highest cost comes at the expense of these sweet dog’s health, temperament, safety, and happiness.

I’m done with my rant. 💝 If anyone has questions or wants to discuss this further, feel free to reach out privately and I will gladly expand on my perspective as a 19 year pet professional.

*if you already own a doodle, please know I pass ZERO judgement. We don’t know until we know - and the doodle campaign has been remarkably effective for the last two decades. I don’t judge owners, I judge breeders. But like all of our efforts to stave off greedy capitalism these days - let’s let expensive designer dogs go with the rest of the fads.

As it happens, my own Solar Birthday falls at this time also, and I was gifted a new phone with a MUCH better camera. 🙌 So expect to see more dog portraits as we move into Summer!

And as always, I gotta take a moment to geek out over the Majesty of Dogs. Just LOOK at this beautiful creature! What a phenomenal subject!

It is not uncommon in the “professional” community to dissuade groomers from overindulging client dogs by coddling them, lest you “make it harder for the next groomer to control them”. You hear - “Keep them on the table, keep a neutral face, and get the job done.” But to that I say…. Naw. I choose this job every day for the chance to make a necessary but sometimes scary experience for these earth angels as pleasant as possible. And quite frankly, I’d be a fool to miss out on priceless, precious moments like this. #
