Scissortail Farm - Round Hill, Virginia
that time again! Scheduling is officially open for our 6th Annual Farm Camp! 🌾🐓
Our farm camp runs weekly, Monday–Thursday, beginning the week of June 15th.
Each morning is filled with hands-on livestock care and education. Children will learn how to feed and care for animals such as chickens, horses, and goats, and they’ll get their hands dirty doing real farm chores right alongside the owner. There is truly no other program like it — no child is left on the other side of the fence wishing they could do more. We proudly focus on learning through doing.
After morning chores, we break for lunch/snack time, followed by farm playtime! Activities include swings, a large jumpy house, a blow-up water slide, soccer, and more.
Our mission is to provide a safe and unconventional environment where children can build self-esteem, responsibility, and accountability. Campers will explore nature and farm life while learning how livestock is cared for and how food is grown in our vegetable garden and orchard. Children experience firsthand how a farm is run and how farmers feed the world. We love sharing a glimpse of real farm life and the meaningful life lessons that come with it.
Each week includes a dedicated garden day and a horse day, where children enjoy a pony ride.

This beautiful girl almost died twice when she was born on a very cold day, and her mom didn't have enough milk for her. We got her when she was on the edge of hypothermia, and I spent many nights in the barn with her head on my lap, syringing electrolytes and mash to her. Needless to say, we bonded very deeply and quickly, and I've had her in the barn with the goats ever since. But she's getting too big now, and she's been calling for the herd, so I started our transition. It's been very difficult for me. Some may say that makes a bad farmer - being so emotional about your animals, but I disagree. I love you, Hope; you will always have a home here with us.

I forgot to post this around Halloween. Mittens, the “farm dog”, is always up to something funny or suspicious. This day he decided to steal half of a pumpkin from the chickens.
