PSA:
I’ve received a couple emails regarding my contract and for better understanding of my prices. My base price per week is $800 for a litter up to 8. Each additional puppy is $100 more a week. If your female cannot nurse and take care of her puppies, they require feedings every 2 hours around the clock, are loaded with worms etc the price is an additional $50/puppy per week ON TOP of our base pay. Our base pay that you pay is for our time, resources and quality care of your female & her puppies. If I’m needing to wake up every 2 hours around the clock to supplement your litter or just feed them in general then it costs extra. I try to work with people the best I can because I understanding paying a whelper is expensive, but you’re paying for our experience and knowledge. I try to give discounts when I’m able to but nobody *not even family* is entitled to such. My time, knowledge, experience & resources is worth something. Getting mad at me for not giving you more discounts because you’re a past client isn’t fair to me. I miss out on time with my family, doctors appointments etc to care for these dogs. You get what you pay for when paying for a whelper as some clients have found out the hard way and then they come here and I’ve been able to save their litters.
We also require a minimum of four weeks at our base pay. Again, anything extra charges can apply if needed. I book my clients in 4 week time slots. And I only take a certain amount of litters at one time. So once you pay your deposit, your 4 weeks are reserved for you. If you bring your puppies here and decide to take them at 2.5 weeks then you are still responsible for the remaining week and a half that you booked as I turned down other clients.
If you choose to fly your pregnant bitch out to me then you are responsible for getting your entire litter back to you which can be difficult depending how big your litter is as flights only allow two puppies per carrier. I do have a list of private charters that are pet friendly that I can recommend.
Your female MUST come here directly after her cesection. I make very few exceptions to this. This is a safety precaution I have had in place for many years. If your female is natural whelping we would prefer it be done in our home. We have access to 24/7 veterinarians if needed. Please message us for the cost of these services if interested.
The point of this post is to point out the things we as whelper sacrifice to help you and your litters. We treat them like family. I’m not just referring to me, but any whelper. Our services our priced according to our experience and knowledge. You wouldn’t want us coming to your job and asking for a discount or refusing to pay for your professionalism. Please don’t do it to us. This job is not easy. It’s not for the weak.
I appreciate all of my clients past, present and future. Most of you have been an absolute joy and have turned into great friends. I look forward to working with you all the rest of 2025. We currently have one opening for September. No availability for October. Minimal availability for November and December. Please reserve your spots as early as possible. Once I fill up I can’t help you.
