🐾 Happy National Veterinary Technician Week! 🐾

To round out our week, we’re celebrating Jessica Lehnhausen! Jessie is a 2010 graduate of Rockford Career College and has been part of the RVS family for most of the years since. Many of those years were spent right alongside our doctors during long days and nights working cattle at the salebarn or out on farm calls, but she certainly enjoys seeing all our small animal patients as well.

Her interests in veterinary medicine include wound care, dentistry, and both large and small animal nursing. She is also our resident expert on all things health paper and VFD (Veterinary Feed Directive)!

Jess brings her steady, patient nature as well as a wealth of experience, a willingness to help, and a calm presence that we are so grateful to have on our team. 🐮🐶🐱

Outside of the clinic, Jessica wears many hats as a wife and mom. When she’s not busy at RVS, you might find her tending her vegetable garden, canning in her outdoor kitchen, crocheting, volunteering with the Girl Scouts, or cheering on her daughter at softball games. All that to say, the one activity she'd enjoy more of a is a few more hours of Zzzs!😴 She’s also a proud pet mom to numerous fur babies—and somehow, over the years, has adopted a couple clinic cats who had worn out their welcome! 😹❤️

Jess, thank you for your years of dedication, your knowledge, your compassion, and all the ways you go above and beyond for our patients and clients. We are glad to have you as part of the RVS family! ❤️

Today, we’re shining the spotlight on our very own veterinary technician, Jordan Sells! ❤️

Jordan joined our team after completing her tech school internship with us in the spring of 2022. She graduated from Black Hawk College with a degree in Veterinary Technology and brought with her a wide range of interests in veterinary medicine, including radiology, clinical pathology, all things large animal, nutrition, and reproduction. 🐂🩻

When Jordan isn’t at the clinic, life is anything but slow! She and her husband are busy raising their four children, and you can often find them cheering from the sidelines at sporting events, supporting them at livestock shows, or enjoying other family activities. And when she’s not doing that, chances are she’s tackling some kind of farm chore.

Jordan enjoys gardening and canning her homegrown goods. We’ve been fortunate enough to enjoy some of her garden bounty (those homemade jalapeño poppers recently were AMAZING!). She also enjoys photography, has a big love for cattle, and hopes to continue growing her family’s own cattle herd in the years to come.

Around the clinic, Jordan brings plenty of fun and big ideas! You can often find her telling your pets what good and brave boys and girls they are, and if you’re from the Roseville area, you might know her best boy, Australian Shepherd, Cash 😉! 🐾

We’re thankful for all Jordan does for our patients, our clients, and our clinic family!

🐾 Happy Veterinary Technician Week! Celebrating CVT Kala Haynes! 🐾

Today, we’re celebrating Kala Haynes, CVT! Kala is a 2019 Black Hawk College graduate and holds a special place in our clinic’s history as our very first credentialed veterinary technician!❤️

Veterinary technicians play such an important role in veterinary medicine. Their knowledge, skills, and dedication help us provide the best possible care for your pets and other animals. From assisting with exams and procedures to preparing patients for the doctor, our techs help keep everything running smoothly and ensure your animals receive the attention they deserve!

Kala has a special interest in phlebotomy, surgery, and anesthesia. She enjoys large animal medicine, though she also loves interacting with all the different critters that come through our doors! Her attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care do not go unnoticed. We are thankful for everything she brings to our team!

Outside the clinic, Kala and her husband stay busy raising their two young children, tending to their garden, and raising laying hens and a handful of pigs for meat. When she has a little downtime, you might find her listening to the Crime Ju**ie podcast! At home, she’s also pet Mom to Loretta, her yellow Lab, and Dave, the stray cat who decided to adopt the family. 🐾💛

Join us in thanking Kala for all she does during Veterinary Technician Week!🩺🐾❤️

National Veterinary Technician Week Spotlight: Brynn Johnson, CVT! 🐾

Brynn graduated with honors from Parkland College in May 2026 earning her degree in Veterinary Technology. Although she is a new tech, Brynn has been part of the RVS family since her early high school years. This summer she passed the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) and officially became licensed as a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT)!

At the clinic, Brynn's areas of interest include pharmacology, anesthesia, and wound care (the grosser the better!). She especially enjoys kitties, cows, and small ruminants. A hard-worker, she also brings a silly, lightheartedness to the workplace that we’re so thankful to have. She enjoys looking for the occasional opportunity to prank Dr. Rudy. Beyond the fun, Brynn is also very passionate about client education.

At home, Brynn is a pet mom to rescue cat Bea and a 7-year-old former bottle calf who now lives rent-free on the family farm! When she’s not at the clinic, Brynn enjoys gluten-free baking, scrapbooking, weight training, and spending time with her family. ❤️

One of the most rewarding parts of what we do is watching young students start their journey with us, learn, grow, and develop their skills before returning as confident, valuable members of our team. Brynn is a wonderful example of that journey, and we couldn’t be prouder of all she has accomplished! 💙
Congratulations, Brynn!
