🔥 1. Keep Them Indoors
• Fireworks are terrifying to many dogs. Keep your pup inside, ideally in a secure, quiet room.
• Close windows and curtains to block noise and flashing lights.
🎆 2. Never Take Dogs to Fireworks Shows
• Even the calmest dogs can panic and run off when fireworks start.
• Leave them at home where it’s safe and familiar.
🎶 3. Play Calming Sounds
• Use white noise, calming music, or the TV to muffle fireworks.
• Some dogs benefit from anti-anxiety vests (like a ThunderShirt).
🆔 4. Double Check ID and Microchip Info
• Make sure your dog’s collar has up-to-date ID tags.
• Microchip info should be current in case they escape.
🍗 5. Watch the Food
• BBQ scraps, chocolate, onions, alcohol, and corn cobs are all dangerous to dogs.
• Politely ask guests not to feed your pup anything.
🧨 6. No Fireworks Around Pets
• Never light sparklers, poppers, or firecrackers near your dog.
• Debris and smells can linger and cause anxiety even after the celebration.
🚽 7. Potty Before Dark
• Walk your dog early in the evening before fireworks start.
• Keep them leashed—even in your yard—because a loud boom could spook them into running.
🐾 8. Create a Safe Space
• Set up a cozy den with their bed, toys, and maybe an old shirt that smells like you.
• Let them hide if they want—don’t force comfort.
