Great information from Dr. Jessica Hodes and Stephanie Anne Fisk McCurdy with Wichita Animal Action League to help keep your pets safe during these hot summer months! ☀️🐾

A few important reminders:
💧 Always provide plenty of fresh, cool water
🌳 Make sure pets have access to shade and cool indoor spaces
🚶 Walk dogs early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid the hottest parts of the day
🔥 Remember: if the pavement is too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for your pet’s paws
🚗 Never leave pets unattended in a vehicle - temperatures can become dangerous within minutes.

Watch for signs of overheating, including excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting, weakness, or difficulty breathing. If you notice these signs, move your pet to a cool area and contact your veterinarian right away.

As summer draws closer and temperatures continue to rise, it’s important take precautions, especially for your pets.

Today we are participating in a training day with the Butler County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit. You may see police vehicles at our building as they train with their dogs throughout the day. We will still be open and operating with normal business hours as usual.

We are happy to help support their training needs while continuing to care for everyone’s pets throughout the day. Thank you all for your understanding!

So what was inside our cute Lab friend’s stomach from yesterday? 👀

After seeing just how much was packed in there, we gave medication to safely induce vomiting. After several rounds, his stomach was completely cleared out - confirmed by his second radiograph showing a nice, normal (and much smaller!) stomach.

And like a proud kid showing off an art project… here were the results 😅

This guy got into a box of condoms, shredded the packaging, and managed to eat 23 condoms in record time… along with a bone and a worm for good measure. 🤦‍♀️

Thankfully, he’s feeling great and went home with no restrictions - other than sticking to approved snacks only from now on. 🐾

This sweet guy really took “anything can be a snack” to heart… 😅

It all happened quickly, but thankfully his owners didn’t hesitate and got him to us right away so we could help.

Take a guess ❓

What do you think has his stomach completely packed on this radiograph? 👀

Come back tomorrow to find out what he decided was just too tasty to pass up!
