La Historia Dogo Argentino La Historia Dogo Argentino Breeding for Type, Function, Rusticity, Temperament, and health. Over 20yr

We are an enthusiast and breeder of the magnificent Dogo Argentino. With each breeding we strive to produce a quality of Dogo Argentino that would be appreciated by the breeds creator.

I know I often post things about Dogo type and how tightly it corresponds with the head. This is šŸ’Æ% accurate. There is another element to breed type, that I think is often either ignored or maybe just genuinely misunderstood. Dr. Antonio Nores Martinez said that the Dogo is mesomorphic(more commonly understood in humans due to the research done on how the body types correspond with muscle gain, metabolism, etc) and ā€œmacrothallicā€(large sized). Mesomorphs are tied to athletic, balanced builds, moderate metabolism and in return moderate ability to gain muscle, sitting at the distributional midpoint between ectomorphs and endomorphs. Ectomorphs being categorized by their very high metabolism, lanky proportions, light bones and lean muscles. Conversely, endomorphs have a slow metabolism, while they typically carry more muscle, they easily gain body fat as well, their structure is more broad than tall, with a bulky skeletal structure.

For over 25 years, we have been on this journey.
Many of you have watched our dogs grow from hopeful puppies into champions, beloved family companions, fearless hunters and representatives of the breed we have dedicated so much of our lives to preserving and improving.
This year, we plan to attend the most important shows for our breed, on this continent. Participating gives us the chance to showcase the quality of our breeding program, connect with other enthusiasts, and continue promoting the breed we all love.
As many of you know, our program has changed over the years. We breed far fewer litters than we once did, which means we no longer have the same resources to offset the significant costs of traveling and competing at major events. Between entry fees, travel, lodging, grooming, and transportation, attending this show will cost approximately $5000.
Over the years, so many of you have asked how you can support what we do. Today, we're giving you that opportunity.
If our dogs, our knowledge, our stories, or our commitment to the breed have brought value to your life, we invite you to become a supporter of this journey. Every contribution, large or small, helps us represent our breeding program and continue the work we've dedicated nearly three decades to building.
More importantly, your support isn't just helping us attend a dog show. It's showing that responsible breeding, mentorship, education, and teamwork is of value to the Dogo Argentino.
We'll be sharing updates throughout the trip, behind-the-scenes photos and videos, ring-side reports, and celebrating every milestone with the community that helped make it possible. Also, we will have a private Facebook group that our supporters will be able to join and share in the preparation to ready the dogs, the vehicles, and our family to travel 4000 miles for such a big event.
Thank you for being part of our story for all these years. We couldn't have done it without you, and we're excited to see where this next chapter takes us.
If you'd like to support our trip, details can be found below.

Thank you,
Kim and Josh

This beautiful Dogo is available. I loved everything about her, I just prefer eyes that are almost black. These are dark enough to not be considered a fault, so she can go to a show or breeding home, it’s just my preference to have all the pigment we can pack in, where is it possible in Dr Nores Martinez vision. She will not have coat spots, she has good bone and size, and she is loving and attentive. She can be Pennhip certified before going home. Don’t settle on a cheap bloodline just to save some money. If you have any interest in her, text me, we can make it work for the both of us 631-680-7347

As we begin this new year, we celebrate the life of a Dogo that has touched everyone who has ever been a part of the La Historia Team. In his 15th year on earth Tajamar de La Historia said goodnight for the last time. I don’t usually do the eulogy type posts, but he deserves at least that. Born with our friends Lucas Granja from a collaboration of ours. Son of Berrinche de Los Medanos and Chiruza de Los Quilmes. He is father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grand father to some of our favorite Dogos in our bloodline. It’s scary sometimes, to line breed and in breed, because until a dog gives it’s very last drop of life to this world, you can’t be sure that the decision to do so was the best thing. Well Taj( what we called him), proved our decisions to be so right. The headshot that I posted a couple weeks back is a female that has him a few times in her pedigree. His descendants have had success in the field and the show ring. His oldest son CH Bruno de la Historia has his own list of accomplishments, none of which possible without Taj. He lived with me until he was almost a year old, he spent time with Sieron and sired a litter with his female Mariela(sister of Pirata de La Historia), he lived with our friend Jimmy Dodgen, our friend Dennis and spent the rest of his life with Gary in Arkansas. He hunted and bred, and when he couldn’t do that anymore he just loved Gary.

I couldn’t have asked for a better dog to have lived to 15 years old. Some pictures to commemorate his life. He will live forever through his descendants.

This was written in 1993 by Dr. Eduardo ā€œToroā€ Lavado. Basically he said it’s scary how many dogs are being shown with heads that don’t correspond with the breed standard. Sadly, this sentiment still rings true. The standard is so clear on the parameters that define breed type. These parameters are the minimum benchmark to be judged as our breed.

I do believe that there is room for stylistic differences from one breeding program to another, those styles must not depart from the path that has been set for nearly a century.

Simply paraphrasing Antonios Standard:

Skull: Big, Convex front to back and side to side.

Face: same length as the skull, when measured from the orbital processes.

Eyes: Dark, deep set, Black or flesh color rims. Wide set. Hard and intelligent stare.

Jaws: strong, equality between upper and lower, big teeth that intersect correctly.

Nose: Strongly pigmented black, Big nostrils, finishes the concave profile of the muzzle.

Ears: Set high and cropped

Lips: Tight, black, never pendulous

Occiput: Hidden/covered

1:1 head to facial region. Imperative to Dogo Argentino breed type. Would love for her to go to a show home, but I’d be just as happy with her just being loved for the amazing Dogo she will be.
