For sale due to no fault of his own! "Blaze of Grey," known better as River, is a 2019 16.1 hand OTTB.
River is schooling training level dressage and jumping 2'3" courses with scope for more. He has schooled Beginner Novice cross country, along with attending dressage and H/J schooling shows with success.
He is quite point-shoot over fences with auto lead changes, but still quite green due to a lack of exposure. We could see him easily moving up the levels in any direction; however, he would be best suited for an experienced rider to give him the most confidence.
He is currently barefoot and happily lives outside or in a stall. Located in Bruce TWP, Mi. Priced in the lowest of 5s 🥕

Who is looking to take the jumper or dressage ring by storm? Look no further!
"One Hot Tamale," known as Chili is a 13-year-old registered appendix gelding standing at 15.2.
Schooling first level dressage and jumping 2'6"/2'9" courses, he is the perfect teacher! Chili really is the jack of all trades with experience in eventing, 4H, dressage, and the jumper ring. He is looking for his own young rider or adult amateur to spoil him! He offers no spook, buck, rear, and is point-shoot over fences.
Chili currently has front shoes with minimal maintenance, which can be discussed. He has excellent ground manners! He stands tied for clipping, bathing, farrier, and has voice commands while lunging!
He has a PPE on file from less than a year ago.
Priced in mid/high four figures, MOTIVATED to sell! Located in Bruce Township, Mi.

The quality of the show jumping canter will rise or fall on whether impulsion overwhelms balance, balance snuffs out impulsion, or the two are rather perfectly meshed by the feel from the rider.

That was one of Jack LeGoff’s many mini-lectures and I will try to amplify what it means---

Impulsion is basically forward energy. To get a horse to move forward with drive and activity, you need impulsion in the canter. Balance is the feeling that the horse is up and light, not plunging onto its forehand.

Jack used to say that in order to go up to a distance you needed impulsion, but in order to shorten to a distance, you needed balance, so if you didn’t have those two sort of contradictory qualities kept in harmony, you were not riding the ideal canter.

And, sure, this is a fairly “sophisticated” concept that greener riders may not yet grasp, but being able to constantly create a better canter throughout a show jumping round can be the difference between clear and rails on the ground. After EVERY fence the better riders will instantly feel whether the canter needs more zing, more balance, or is just right to go with toward the next fence.

If you struggle with this, get good eyes on the ground to help you learn it.

I’ve been so fortunate to be a part of keeping Hunter’s Run Farm events alive! A huge thank you to the USEA for featuring Hunters Run Farm in their article this week!

Take a moment to read about the history of this beautiful and unique Michigan eventing venue. A big thank you also goes to Matador Farm, LLC for partnering with us this year and sharing the beautiful Rattlewood farm with us to host the stabling, dressage, and show jumping portion of the August 23-24, 2025 USEA show.

If you want to be a part of making our dreams of adding a modified track come true reach out to me or Courtney Zachary for more information.

Now available “Discreet Tattoo“, known around the barn as Ivy.

15.2, 10 year old OTTB mare.

This one won’t last long! Ivy is a beautiful mare with 3 gorgeous gaits, auto flying changes, and lovely form over fences. More of a push style ride.

Ivy is searching for a rider in a program where she can continue to grow and learn. Currently schooling 2’ - 2’3” courses, but has no limitations, just lack of exposure.

Been owned and ridden by a knowledgeable junior. Can live in or out (but does require grain if living out), UTD on everything.
