Great article about flipping your mindset as an owner-handler. Another great mindset flip I love was given to me by Vicki Ronchette, founder of Show Dog Prep School: You have strengths as an owner handler, namely that you are showing 1 or 2 dogs instead of dozens. Focus on those dogs, train them to do the little eye catching things (like expression on command) that handlers likely don't have time for, and dress to highlight them. (clearly very paraphrased!)

Learn what the "dress code" is in the dog show world and how to dress for success in the conformation dog show ring.

Huge weekend for Kaprikorn Champagne Toast (Cheers!) at the Blue Crab Cluster.

Cheers went Best of Winners on Saturday and Sunday for two 5pt. majors bringing him up to 13 championship points total, all major wins, all amateur owner handled! Thanks to Judges Mr. Raymond Filburn and Mr. James Taylor for recognizing Cheers through his inexperience. We are making big plans for his next (and hopefully last) appearance as a class dog, so stay tuned!

Thanks also to the Southern Maryland Kennel Club and Kennel Club of Anne Arundel for a great show despite the early stormy weather. And of course these things take a small village 'at home', so thanks to Hannah at Canine Country Academy and Vicki at Show Dog Prep School and my friend Tara for helping me work with Cheers on his ring skills.
