🎸🐾 National Dog Month | Volume 1: Every Rockstar Has Their Own Style 🐾🎸
Some dogs are smooth, cool, and totally unbothered.
They're the ones lounging backstage, taking in the scene, and wondering why everyone else is making such a fuss.
Then there are the headliners...
The zoomie champions.
The toy collectors.
The "let's play one more time!" crowd.
The dogs who greet every day like they're opening for a sold-out arena.
Neither style is better than the other—and that's exactly what we love.

Our donation box is ready, and we're so excited to see our community come together to support students in the Logan-Rogersville School District!
Whether you're dropping off your pup for grooming or boarding, or you're simply in the area, we'd love for you to stop by with a donation. Everyone is welcome to participate!
Donate new school supplies or full-size hygiene products through August 21 and, if you're here for a boarding or grooming appointment, you'll receive 10% OFF your service as our way of saying thank you.

🎸🐾 A TANGLE ISN'T ALWAYS "JUST A TANGLE."
It's easy to think a few knots can wait until the next grooming appointment—but mats have a way of turning a small problem into a big one.
As fur tangles, it tightens against the skin like a knot that keeps getting pulled tighter. Over time, mats can:
✨ Limit airflow to the skin.
💧 Trap moisture, dirt, and debris.
🦟 Hide irritation, hot spots, parasites, or infections.
😔 Make everyday movements like walking, lying down, or even wagging a tail uncomfortable.
One of the hardest parts of our job is explaining that brushing out severe matting isn't always the kindest option. In many cases, safely removing the coat is the most humane way to give a dog immediate relief.
The good news? Matting is almost always preventable.
Regular brushing at home, routine baths, professional grooming, and keeping your pup on a schedule can make all the difference—especially for doodles, poodles, spaniels, and other long- or curly-coated breeds.

Our lobby will be accepting donations throughout the drive, and everyone is welcome to stop by and donate, whether you're a client or not.
All donated items will be delivered to the Logan-Rogersville School District to help support students in our own community before the first day of school.
If there's one thing we've learned, it's that our Bark at the Moon family always shows up when our community needs it most. We know our amazing clients, friends, and neighbors are going to help us make a real difference for the children of Logan-Rogersville, and we can't wait to see this lobby overflowing with generosity. 🎸 "Wouldn't my dog be cooler if we just shaved all that fur?" ☀️🐾
It's one of the most common questions we get this time of year—and it's a great one!
For many dogs with double coats, the answer is actually no.
Think of a double coat like your dog's built-in climate control. The outer coat helps shield them from the sun, while the undercoat works to insulate and regulate body temperature. When the coat is healthy and well maintained, it does a pretty amazing job.
That doesn't mean your dog has to spend the summer looking like a fluffy rockstar from the '80s, though! 🤘
A thorough brush-out and professional deshedding treatment can remove piles of loose undercoat, improve airflow through the coat, and help your pup stay more comfortable—all without removing the protection their coat naturally provides.
Every dog is different, of course. Age, medical conditions, severe matting, or previous shave-downs may change what's best, and we're always happy to talk through your dog's individual needs.
Our favorite approach? Healthy skin. Healthy coat. Happy dog. ❤️

☀️🎸 TOO HOT TO ROCK? KNOW THE SIGNS. 🐾
Summer is here, and while we all love sunny days, high temperatures can become dangerous for our four-legged rockstars in a hurry.
Dogs don't sweat like we do—they depend on panting, shade, and fresh water to stay cool.
At Bark at the Moon, heat safety is always part of the setlist:
🎵 Outdoor play is adjusted based on the weather.
💧 Fresh water is always available.
❄️ Our suites and play areas stay cool and air-conditioned.
❤️ Seniors, flat-faced breeds, and other high-risk pups receive extra monitoring and care.
At home, you can help keep your pup safe by:
🐾 Walking during the cooler morning or evening hours.
🔥 Testing the pavement before heading out—if it's too hot for the back of your hand, it's too hot for paws.
🚗 Never leaving your dog in a parked vehicle, even for a few minutes.
⚠️ Watching for warning signs like excessive panting, heavy drooling, weakness, vomiting, or disorientation.
When the temperatures are cranked up, the safest encore is staying cool. Your pup will thank you! 🤘❤️

🎤 Ladies and gentlemen... please welcome to the stage, Ace! 🤘🐾
Every legendary performer has incredible range, and Ace brought the full setlist during his stay in one of our Rockstar Suites.
His opening act? Sweet, laid-back ballads filled with gentle tail wags, cozy naps, and soaking up all the love and attention from the crew.
But don't let that mellow vibe fool you...
When it was time to hit the stage, Ace turned things up with playful energy, happy zoomies, and enough goofy fun to have everyone smiling. From heartfelt classics to head-banging party anthems, this four-year-old Goldendoodle knew exactly how to keep the crowd entertained.
Ace, thanks for putting on such an unforgettable performance. Your fans here at Bark at the Moon can't wait for your next tour stop! 🎸❤️
