Our sweet senior, Addison, is a regular here. She was here for a drop off appointment yesterday ❤️

Work all week or have a busy schedule? Did you know we know we have keep and treat options for patients that do well in kennels? What is a keep and treat? It’s a drop off between 7am to 9am, and patients are seen between morning appointments, and pickup is typically in the afternoon. We call to discuss examination and treatment plan then set a discharge time.

Give us a call or text us if you have any questions or would like to schedule 🤩📞

Today, October 27th, is a separate Day of the Dead recognised as a day for people to honour the memory of their beloved pets who have sadly passed away. 💔🕊️

The main holiday is held on November 2nd, for humans. However, October 27th has become recognized by many as an additional day dedicated to remembering pets.

Sweet patient, Rocky, getting all the lovings after recovering from his dental. Two extractions for this sweet babe today after clear bone loss on dental radiographs 🦷 He enjoyed the post-op cuddles from RVT Kecia 🥰

Why should pets get dentals? *Picture this* not brushing your teeth would cause severe dental disease. Same goes for your fur babes. Let’s avoid some stanky breath too!!

Ask Dr. Earl at your next visit when he recommends a dental for your baby, and we can get one on the 📚

🌼 Meet Lucy Lu 🌼

Sweet Lucy Lu was recently hospitalized with hepatopathy, a condition that affects the liver’s ability to function properly. The liver plays a crucial role in filtering toxins, aiding digestion, and processing nutrients — so when it’s not working as it should, it can make pets feel very sick.

Common signs of liver disease or hepatopathy in dogs include:
🩶 Loss of appetite
🩶 Vomiting or diarrhea
🩶 Yellowing of the eyes, gums, or skin (jaundice)
🩶 Lethargy or confusion
🩶 Increased thirst and urination

Lucy Lu’s care involved hospitalization, IV fluids, medications, and careful monitoring of her liver values by our emergency and specialty team. With the right treatment and lots of love, many pets with liver issues can recover or manage their condition successfully.

We’re so proud of Lucy Lu for being such a brave patient and thankful to her family for trusting us with her care. 💛

“For those of you feeding your dogs a fresh food diet like The Farmers Dog, or considering switching to a fresh food diet, here is an article from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine reporting on a potential link between an additive in many of these foods and the growth of a specific type of urinary stone.”

https://profiles-vetmed.umn.edu/article/umn-researchers-discover-new-urinary-stone-and-likely-cause?fbclid=IwdGRjcAMfBFJleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHm_gwSW_WGk0bSSPQ3O6xvskHXLUMmhZTzX4jO0da_T_tqsv7qD3izs4gSOu_aem_1stl6RVU1JT1Kua1PbHx5w

The Minnesota Urolith Center has discovered a new type of urinary stone that is associated with supplements or diets containing a particular compound, called Calcium Tartrate Tetrahydrate.
