I can’t let this week slip by without acknowledging the back bone of the functionality of our clinic and of me! Veterinary assistant week is this week and I want everyone to see the faces of those who devote themselves to caring for our client and shelter animals.

Dakota, Kallie, Bri, Angela, Kathryn, Haley, Whitney, and Trish are behind the scenes everyday prepping, cleaning, recovering, wrapping packs, assisting in surgery, assisting in appointments and animal care. These ladies work nonstop from the time they clock in until they clock out and then some after hours.

I can’t count the times that each of the girls have taken home kittens, puppies, senior dogs or cats, sick animals, client animals that need round the clock care…including a rooster.
They do not hesitate to give their personal time to help an animal or client when needed.

Most days are a whirlwind and very stressful trying to help all that we can, without them we could not continue our mission.

Thank you ladies!
Love y’all
-Steph

Congratulations to Stephanie Arrington, LVT who manages our Franklin County Humane Society's Planned Pethood Clinic for receiving the 2026 Bravo award from the Virginia Federation of Humane Societies. In addition to her full time and hectic job at Franklin County Humane Society's Planned Pethood Clinic, Stephanie also runs TNR SWVA, a non profit that raises funds to trap/neuter/return outside cats. She can be found most nights and weekends rounding up the next group of unaltered cats. TNR is the most effective way to reduce the numbers of cats and kittens that overwhelm shelters every year. We are fortunate to have Stephanie on staff. She is always available to answer calls from Humane Society staff. Thank you Stephanie!!!

We would like to send a huge thank you for these donations as it was very special and heartfelt.

Dr. Ballard works with us in our clinic and we love having her help. A few months ago, her sweet pup “Stanley” was diagnosed with a terminal illness. Stanley is like the Walmart greeter-never meets a stranger. He used to visit hospital patients to brighten their day. He’s a very special fella and Dr. Ballard wanted to celebrate him. She hosted a Stanley party and instead of gifts, she asked everyone for donations for our shelter babies.

This was such a thoughtful way to continue honoring Stanley.

Thanks Dr. Ballard, Stanley, and all of the friends who donated. ❤️
